This is probably a stupid question to the well-informed HT gurus out there. But, any help appreciated.

After purchasing a Yamaha HTR-6230, I found out that it does NOT process audio from the HDMI input to the receiver's decoders.
It does however, pass the audio to the HDMI outputs which in my case is my LCD TV, but what's the point of passing 5.1 audio to stereo LCD speakers? Duh.

So . . . it would be helpful if anyone knows of a list of 5.1 receivers that will PROCESS the audio from the HDMI cable to the receiver's amp & speakers.

My dream setup would be a new HTPC connected to a 5.1 receiver using only the HDMI cable.

THANX!!!!!!

Most will including the next one up in the Yamaha range.http://www.yamaha.com/yec/avreceiver...l?CTID=5000400 You picked the bottom of the line.

There is also a thread here which discusses these various issues. http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...11#post8690911

Unless you want the HD audio processed, all you need to do is connect an optical or digital coax cable to the AVR from your sources.
