Are there any other retailers that sell them at that great price? I know we can't discuss price, but is there something against opinions on where to buy?

Thanks

abt.com and 6ave.com have them.
They are authorized onkyo pro dealers.

The prices on their sites are the MSRP .. have you talked to dealers selling above that?

The prices that they list which are MSRP are silly, but when you call the price that abt and 6ave give you is better than any dealer I have talked to so far.

Thanks, now that I think about it, I believe manufacturers allow only MSRPs be listed publicly.

You only need to purchase from an authorized vendor.

But then there is always the "I got it as a gift and I don't know where it was purchased." I have never seen a manufacturer deny warranty coverage if the serial number indicated manufacturing occurred within the warranty period.

It's been a roller coaster ride for me since morning. Finally, have my order at the right place and okay price (not the best - but, I can live with it). Yay! Thanks to nezff and pepar. You guys are awesome!!!

The Onkyo PR-SC5508 will arrive sometime early next week, and can't wait to see it replace my Onkyo Tx-NR808. I will post my pre-review once everything is in place.

Thanks!

Why was it a roller coaster? Difficult to get the price for the SC5508?

Well just got the 5508.

Have HDMI main going to a projector, works great..

Have monitor component out from the 5508 to
a lcd screen. No signal from Component out.

Can I output HDMI main and component at the same time ?

Bob

You should look at the manual, specifically the "Video Signal Flow Chart" ...

If you input component, it will output component and HDMI. But if you input HDMI, it will only output HDMI ... as I read it.

They had a compelling offer on the matching amp as well at a slighter bigger discount

I got a price also from them. It was actually a great price and was the same one I got from 6ave. By the time shipping and paypal fees kicked in, he was $100 more.

Anyone here running the MC5500 with their 5508? Are you happy with it?

I have an XPA3 and two UPA2s and am considering the 5500. I would keep the XPA3 and run 6 channels off the 5500.

Also, I havent been able to find actual measurements of the 5500 with all channels driven. Has anyone come across those numbers?

Just unboxed the 5508. (pics in my thread)

Cant wait to get Audyssey XT32 up and running. Will post impressions soon. I do know this thing is way way lighter than any of my previous Onkyos. Mainly due to the fact there is no amp section.

Yep, lots of metal involved in amplification.
