I picked one up last week and finally got a chance to hook it up, replacing Pioneer SC-25.
Overall, quite happy with it. After hooking it up and running Audyssey, sound much better than SC-25. Now, quite possible that after tweaking various settings on SC-25 it could have sounded as good, however since I don't have the qualifications to do that, I am looking for something that will sound good right out of the box and in my case Marantz is definitely better (the whole point of room correction software IMHO is that an average Joe like me can push a few buttons and have his setup sound at least half way decent).
Compared to the Pioneer definitely much better clarity and separation both with speech and sound effects, especially subtle ones like footsteps, glasses clinking, etc (my movie preferences run towards stuff with more talk and less explosions
) I am actually quite impressed with the sound because I've grown to hate my speakers (energy connoisseur with left/right towers that are ok for movies but absolutely stink for music when hooked up to a simple amp (or receiver in pure direct mode).
Also, it looks like Marantz has an app for the iPhone that will allow you to use your iPhone as a remote for your SR7005 (it says that there will be a firmware upgrade in later September for the SR7005 that will enable that function). Can't wait.
So far the only negative is that one of the rubber pads on the feet of the receiver is noticeably thinner, as such the receiver stands on only three feet. This was rectified by a tiny piece of thin cardboard but it IS lame. I will call the dealer and ask if he has any spares.
