I hope the 4311 and the A100 are made in Japan as I have had two other Denons that worked great and never sent them in for repair. I opted to wait for the A100 and hope everyone that gets the 4311 is well satified and can share pro&cons without being to overly ecstatic. I am pretty sure the 4311 is also made in Japan but wouldn't bet my life on it. Which ever one you purchase it can still be said it's GOOD to be Back In BLACK!

Hello,
The A100 is indeed Made in Japan, as is the 4311. The AVR-3311 is Made in China. The last 3000 Series Denon made in Japan was the AVR-3808CI.

It is unfortunate as for some time, most of Denon's AVR lineup was made in Japan. I realize some do not care about this, but I do value when Components are made in Japan, Western Europe, or North America.

I am seriously thinking about getting a 4311 and returning my Onkyo TX-NR3007. While 3D holds no sway to me, the Preamp Mode really does.
Cheers,

Hey I'll believe it when I see it too, just sayin' at this point.

The good ol 3808 MSRPd at $1599 though, and it was available pretty quickly ~$1000, so a comparable ~40% cut on the 4311 is not completely unthinkable...especially with some of the heavy discounting going on elsewhere in this economy.

We'll see soon enough I suppose. I'll take $1299 though through a solid vendor.

IceTBC,

I believe so and I think the standard thread size is 3/8". You shouldn't need anything special. I know I didn't.

However, I would love a PM on the $1430 price alone, but <$1300!? I'm admittedly skeptical; that's a steal for this receiver! I would dedicate a statue to the person who could point me to that seller. OK, well, maybe not, but I'd be VERY grateful!

Since apparently price talk is not frowned upon, I will post my two cents and say I preordered mine from an authorized dealer for $xxxxx. Their price did go up to $xxxx though in the last week or so. I also prepaid for mine.
The newer audyssey features and the dual sub eq are the most important things for me...

And if all you cheap asses would pony up $35 to help support this forum you would gain access to the "hot deals" section where we can post deals and prices on just about anything. If you buy even one piece a year I bet you would save your $35 easily.
Willie, I am not singling you out personally, I just happened to click on your post...

With all the price-talk that goes on in the "normal" threads (like this, lol) anyways and the WWW in general (nevermind price search engines that search a few million retailers in seconds), it leaks out nearly immediately anyways. You can bet as soon as someone gets one for ~$1300, it will be all over this joint.

ss9001 in the Pioneer SC-09TX thread has some nice things to say about the A100 at CEDIA:

This is the main reason I ordered an A100 instead of the regular 4311... This A100 is intended to be used in the 11ch preamp mode partnered to 2 Emotiva UPA-7 amps in a DSX type 11.2 installation built with Klipsch THX Ultra2 speakers.

I got mine for under $1500. However it was not near $1300. I won't say the exact price..

Thats a very nice price, wish I would have jumped sooner. I didn't get mine for that low, but it's still under $1499. You probably have the lowest price possible.

Using the extra three channels on those UPA's for biamping the front three speakers? That was my plan...
Best,
Chris
PS I would LOVE to have the A100 but not for the price they want for it. I would pay a little bit of a premium for it but I have searched and found no good deals on it.

Without specifically discussing price, just price differential; what's your personal tipping point to choose the A100 over the 4311?

Mine is $200, I would probably opt for the A100 if it were $200 more. $300 probably not but maybe, depends on how I feel that day and if it is lower than the differential trend between the two receivers I see at the time. $400 no freakin way!

Drinking and spending has always been dangerous for me too! Fortunately I combine them often, so I end up with a bunch of cool stuff I have to pay for in many ways! (married)

I'm still talking myself into the 100, but I just don't see it being discounted significantly (if at all).

Seeing I was planning on spending 15-$1600 for the 4311, if indeed it continues to drop and SOMEHOW the 100 gets in that neighborhood, I'll bite, but I just don't see that happening.

Even right now, with the 4311's available for what they are, I couldn't justfy even $2k for a 100.

I know I might get slack for this but I actually prefer the non glossy look of the 4311 over the a100 so my choice is easier I guess. Finger prints & dust

Mind you I haven't seen the A100 in person to say for sure. JMO

I prolly tend to agree with ya, but I'd bet either will be liveable.

And although I'd be lying if I said the 100th anniversary and small extras of the 100 are not intriguing to me on their own, I'm more thinking this really will be a long-term selection for me, so the extra 2 years of warranty, enhanced resale, and perhaps slightly improved reliability/longevity may provide me with some value.

Just not for another $500+, lol.
