I'm willing to do that, but can I be sure that it will not void any warranty?

Hey, congrats on your new 4311!

I am trying to decide which one to go with...

The 4311 or the 4810...

There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of difference between the two...

Those Denon's sure do look sexy!

I edit my post from earlier. Thanks for the heads up. World Wide Stereo is accepting orders for $2000 on the A-100.

I have been going back and forth between the 4311 and A-100. The reasons you gave above along with the additional 2 year warranty were the primary reasons. I didn't want to kick myself later for not getting the nicer version. I figured if I own it 5 years, we're only talking $100 more a year for the upgrades and more attractive look.

Sigh. Just got off the phone with my Canadian dealer. "Mid-October" is what he's telling me. He says a small shipment went to the USA and none to Canada. All were quickly sold. More in a couple of weeks.

Maybe it's just sour grapes, but if I have to wait until the second batch anyways, I hope at least there will be a software update ready to counter the inevitable software glitches.

yes, mostly I was just joking

I'm pretty sure it technically voids the warranty, but they may never know with most receivers, it's just a matter of removing four screws and lifting up....

Boy with an initial September availability now morphing into October and possibly November for some, perhaps my unexpected "dental roadblock" won't even matter by the time I can actually get my hands on a unit anyways.

Sucks though for those ready and willing to dish out the $ now, so sorry all.

James

Actual phone call (see pic to left):

Tech (responding to laughter): "I'm sorry sir, did I miss something?"

Me: "Yeah, a case of Diet Mountain Dew walking across my living room."

Audyssey Pro v3.4 will not be available until mid October so even if I had my 4311 in hand right now it wouldn't do me any good.

I'm hoping the professional reviewers give us some info in this regard. I wonder how soon to expect one or two professional reviews with measurements and alike?

Oh and for those that have their units, I think one of our top consensus question was:

"Are all the preout's hot in non-pre-amp mode?"

I thought it was thought to be so, as they are in the 3311 (and previous Denons)?

The reason I asked about the THX cert was if you go on the Denon USA site for the 4311 and click on "detailed specifications, under sound modes it says "THX Ultr2 Certified". Must be a typo. I thought it was odd not to see the logo on the faceplate.

If you look closely, you'll notice that there is no check mark to the right of the "THX Ultra2-Certified" listing, indicating that the feature is absent on the 4311.

Hello,
I am surprised anyone really questioned that they were Made in Japan after looking at the Rear Panel Pictures on the Website showing Made in Japan on the back of the 4311.

I was disappointed that after the AVR-3808, the 3000 Series Models are now made in China. Whereas even the 2808 and 2805 were also made in Japan as well. That and the newer Models all weighing less than the earlier Models while the price is going up.
Cheers,
AD

Hey, go easy on him. He lives in Mexico Missouri. I have driven by that "town" (I use the term loosely) on my way to Columbia....

Just a quick question I have been comparing the 4311 and 4810 just cannot find any info on what type of video processing the 4311 uses the 4810 uses anchor bay but the only item I find is the 11 just upscales to 1080p.

I have the same question...

I am also comparing the 4810 and 4311 and trying to decide which is "better"...

There really does not seem to be a great amount of difference in the two...

the more I compare the greater the difference. The big plus on the 4311 is the x32. And the 1.4a The 3D capabillityis of no real interest to me the x32 would be nice shame the 4810 soea not get a firmware update for that. But the video processing is very vague on the 4311.

Same here...

I just got the new 3D TV, and after watching 3D, I really don't think I would use it...

It does not look like "3D" it kind of looks like "layered" 2D...

So, I am really not all that concerned about 3D...

But when you do the "Compare" section on Denon's website between the 4810 and the 4311 - it really does not look like there is a big difference (other than 3D) and of the differences, it seems like the 4810 has better components as far as video and audio processing...

Again, I don't know much about this stuff, so, ANY input from you pros would be GREATLY appreciated...

The Anchor Bay ABT 2015. Zoom in on the "Inside" picture on the website and you can see it.

As said before, I doubt this thing would pass THX Ultra2 all channels driven, maybe even have trouble with Select2 LOL. I think it will do great running 4 channels continuous which is all I'd ever expect out of it.

It's a 9.2 receiver with internal amps (11.2 with external amps)... I have a hard time believing it's only going to be able to correctly power 4 channels.

I'm buying it for 9.1, with no use of external amp. If it can't handle it.. i'm gonna be pissed for the price i'm paying.

Ya know, it's a lot to ask a little receiver to do reference blast movies into speakers that run at 4 ohms and have an efficiency of 85db/1W/1M. But....... If you have a reasonable room size, with reasonably easy to drive speakers..... The 4311 should do just great all speakers blasting in 9 + an externally powered sub. If this is not your situation, still find inner peace and offload the fronts. It's all good.
