$1,000 budget. I'm having a hard time telling which units with 2 sub pre-outs are "both on same channel" vs "2 seperate channels". Can anyone throw out a couple? Thx,

On a $1000 budget, your options are slim to none. The few AVRs (e.g. Denon 4311CI, Yamaha A3000) that offer two separate sub outs start around $2000.

Sounds like you might need an outboard XO to do that.... A two-way XO would do it.
What subs will you be using ? Sounds interesting. Midbass is where the chest hitting bass is....

The Onkyo NR1008/3008/5008 do. It may be tough to find them at that budget - look for the NR1007/3007/5007 if you don't need 3D support. All have Audyssey MultEQ XT.

When all else fails - RTFM!
