I am not one of the "experts" but it looks to me ARC has done an excellent job on your sub and should sound great! It really is not much difference on the corrected line than the "perfect" chart you have as reference. What cutoff did ARC select? If it is 120hz you are fine. I would say you should set the sub to flat as you have good output at 20hz.. SVS makes outstanding subs and the SVS PB-12 is a very capable performer.

Thanks for the reply Barry,

Arc set the cutof on 80 hz. In stereo the bass is missing some impact.

Your sub needs to be moved using ARCs quick measure utility. When you get a red measured line that is close to flat from 100-20Hz, then you remeasure using ARC and your cutoff in the targets page should be close to 120Hz. Flat from 100-20Hz gives you great punch that you are missing now. That sub chart is mine and it looked like yours when I started.

Some of the bass missing is because you have a 10dB drop from 70Hz to 100Hz. That's why moving it is necessary.

Looks like Anthem has removed all mention of the MDX-1 Dock from the Anthem Site and the MRX Datasheet frown.gif

Please, before you ask a question about...
General Information on the MRX Series: See the First post here.
Technical Information including using ARC: See the "FAQ" post here.

Thanks for the advice John.

My sub is now between the center and the right front speaker.

I shall move the subwoofer to a different location and run quick measure.

Inches can make a difference. I went from the front right corner to 8' up the right wall towards the seats. If I move it inches in either direction the graph changes a lot so keep that in mind.

Need you expert opinions...

I went to my local dealer and he gave me the price of Mrx500 for $1200 and Mrx300 for $800. Are the prices still high? Do you guys think the extra $400 for mrx500 is worth it? I dont need internet radio or usb, i already have apple tv and popcorn hour. Should i be worried if im going to buy is a display unit but never been used? They just took the unit out of the box for display, the mrx300 still has the plastic on the screen but the 500 doesnt have.

Thanks
My speakers are Paradigm monitor 7s7, center 3 and polk tsi300 for surrounds.

@bryan338,

Your dealer is giving you a very good price on both. How big of a room are you trying to fill?

I would go with the 500 with the price that was quoted for you. Should be plenty of power.

It's a sad story that's way too common amongst the boutique audio companies.

I wonder if Apple insisted on something that just went farther than it was worth trying anymore.

It's likely a lack of interest communicated from dealers. While a handful here may be interested, they likely don't think it's worth it.

I am playing music through usb. Unfortunately, my projector is not available now so I can't see what it is playing. They would have displayed file name, folders etc in the MRX display.

It is playing songs in the root directory. Now I can click next and play next song etc. There is only one sub directory. How do I play songs from that sub directory?

You can do a Google on room treatments and get plenty of info to read up on. What nasty problems are you having? Normally, room treatments are good down to about 60 Hz. If you begin to have problems lower than 60 Hz, then you will have to depend on placement and EQ.

Thanks. I'll be playing with placement again this weekend. I've gone so far as to move furniture and i don't see any movement in quick measure even though i see different results in ARC. Thought there might be a thread on AVS that i overlooked for room treatment.

You'll have to try it yourself. Not everyone has that issue, me included, so it's worth testing.

I found the Real Traps and GIK sites to have very useful information (yes they sell products but provide unbiased information / assistance.) Just a word of warning . . if you suffer from COD (compulsive, obsessive disorder) reading these links won't help your condition. smile.gif

John,
I respect your help an opinions 100%, but in this case that answer does not make any sense. When these AVR's first came out one of highlights in there advertisement was an Apple Dock coming soon? In today's Audio World this feature is a huge selling point. I LOVE my MRX 700 but I cannot believe they gave up on this. This looks like a case of false advertising.

I had some really bad crackling coming out of my center the other day when I was set to 2.0 and no surround processing on. Hasn't happened since but it was really weird. And it was coming from the tweeter in the center. I thought it was blown but when I switched to a CD from DVD using the same player and still 2.0 it went away. Very very strange that a speaker that shouldn't have been playing was having crackling sounds.

Firmware 50.25 has been officially released. If I downloaded 50.24 and I don't care about the zone issue do I need to update?
