I was looking around at Acc4Less and saw this receiver. I have a Samsung 5500 Blu-Ray player and was wondering if this receiver is able to play the HD audio that comes with today's blu-ray disk's.

Thanks for any help and comments on this receiver.

Hi hopper810, no it will not as this receiver is a pass-thru receiver which doesn't process HDMI audio.

508 will do the trick for you. Just note that it does not upconvert analog video to HDMI output.

It is my understanding that that receiver (i have it too) will do that audio as long as your source (blue ray player) is capable of processing the same formats. examples of audio formats supported by that receiver: all your dolbys, DTS,DTS 96/24,DTS-ES Discrete, DTS-ES Matrix,DTS Neo:6.

Also my understanding that an hdmi 1.4 with ethernet connection between the receiver and the blu ray player is what is required to do so.

So if this is not the case... please let me know also. Thanks!

Yes it will play the HD sound. I just got it and reading through the manual it is a HD Unit.
