Looking through these 2 threads, there is some comparisons. I know one is a receiver the other is a pre-pro. I currently have an Onkyo 885 pre-pro and have the bug for an upgrade. I was dead set on the 5508 but started reading about the 4311. Does anyone have experience with both?
I am unconcerned about the relay clicking. That will not be an issue because I don't have cable or satellite.
I was going to have to buy another 2 channel amp to power the height/width channels but wouldn't have to with the Denon. I have always been under the impression that a dedicate pre-amp is the cleanest source but now it seems the newer receivers are blurring the line.

I don't have experience with either of these products. But you may want to read the last few pages of the 4311 thread to see what their users are experiencing with Audyssey XT32 and see if its something you feel like working with. You may also want to consider a Yamaha A2000 or 3000 for this use. These are both networking AVR's and the A3000 test report on it was very good. You can read about it over at Audioholics. Of course neither of these use Audyssey, they use YPAO. So if you feel you have to have have Audyssey you can look into the Marantz AV7005 for a pre-pro. It also gets very good reports so far. NAD is another one that uses Audyssey. I would definitely consider or at least give the Yammies a look then the Marantz AV7005. Good luck and enjoy.
