Hey Guys, i was thinking of gettign teh Anthem MRX300 as a Pre then using Emo amps. After thinking about it, i would be spending about $1200 for the MRX, but it has minimal connections. Only 4 HDMI, no 7.2 (which i was thinking of doing) etc. The only reason why i was thinking of going the Anthem route was becasue of ARC and the fact that its Anthem.

What would be a good receiver for under $1000 that i can use? I would like it to have HDMI connections, 7.2 in case i decide to do it and also some sort of room calibration system like Arc or Audyssey?

In case it matters, i would be running Paradigm Studio series speakers in a 7.1 setup for now.

Thanks

Denon 3311....... Maybe a Yamaha A2000. The Denon will easily fit that budget. The Yamaha maybe, at the right place.

I like the Denon, but how does the 3311 compare to the Onkyo TX-NR708?

It doesn't for the fact alone that with the 3311 you get a better version of Audyssey(XT), whereas the 708 has Multi-eq only. Also the build quality, reliability, and its ability to closer meet its specs is in the Denon's favor. JMHO.

you are going to get a lot of Denon recommendations I have and love Yammy's. but look at the activity on the Denon threads. We are highly out numbered.

How true, but I'm a certifiable Yamaha nutcase. I feel in order to match what the 3311 has available though you would need to step up to the newer Yamaha's. the Aventage A1000/2000/3000 would all make excellent pre-pros. Another that may do alright for this service would be the RX-V867. Its just hard at this time to get an AVR that matches the quality and features of the Denon 3311 especially in its price range. I try to recommend Yamaha whenever possible but still IMO that 3311 is very hard to beat.

Yeah, i thought the Denon was going to be the best choice. I currently like Yamaha as well, but for the price, the Denon seems to be the best.

Did you look at the Yamaha 867? It can be had for less than the 3311 at many sites.

And this because most people don't know any better. We may be outnumbered but we are not being outsmarted. They just don't know what they are missing.
