I wonder if some one can give me a hand:
I have a brand new Onkyo TX-NR509. Its primary use is to connect my HTPC via HDMI cable - the video goes to a projector, the audio is supposed to come out over the 5.1 system. The HTPC is running Windows 7 and is putting out signals through a Sapphire Radeon HD 6950 2GB Dirt 3 Edition.
Video is working perfectly - no problem there.
However, I can't get any audio through HDMI.
That is, on the HTPC, I DO see "AMD DP Output" under "Playback Devices" and I have it set as my "Default Device." As music plays the volume level indicator moves just fine. (The PC is unmuted, too!) Also, I didn't have any trouble sending a signal from the HTPC to the Onkyo via Toslink or stereo cable. Everythign is fine there.
As for settings on the Onkyo, I have HDMI1 associated with BD/DVD and the HDMI cable plugged in there. I've also messed with the settings under Setup - HDMI Setup, and nothing has made any difference.
Nor does it make any difference whether the projector is off or on.
Is it possible that something is defective here?? As far as I can tell either I have (a) a software problem in Windows 7, (b) a hardware problem with my Radeon 6950, (c) a problem with the cable (brand new, rated HDMI 1.3 - but not expensive), (d) a hardware problem with the Onkyo or (e) a settings problem with the Onkyo.
Unfortunately, I also don't have another HDMI device to test with ...
I honestly don't know where to start here - nor whom to contact for help. Do Onkyo people provide good support in a situation like this? Or is there something obvious I'm doing wrong here?
