Denon AVR-1312 A/V Surround Receiver Details
Fully Discrete, Identical Quality and Power for all 5 channels (110 W x 5 Ch)

* To faithfully reproduce the original surround sound, each of the AVR-1312's 5 channels is equipped with the same power amp of equal power
* Since these power amps also use discrete circuits configured with parts strictly selected for their contribution to high sound quality, rather than with low-cost integrated circuits (ICs), the surround sound playback is of impeccably high quality

Featuring 3D Pass-Through Technology

* By connecting a 3D-complaint Blu-Ray disc player and 3D-compliant TV to the AVR-1312, you will have a 3D home theater where you can enjoy high-definition sound and video on a level you've never experienced before

Minimum Signal Path for Clear Audio and Video

* "Simple and Straight" design concept has been thoroughly implemented in the signal paths to contribute to immaculately clean audio and video playback
* Signal paths are as short as possible to keep signal degradation in the audio and video circuitry to an absolute minimum

Direct Mechanical Ground Construction, Embodying Concepts for thorough Vibration Resistance

* Vibration-Resistance Construction has been reviewed has been reviewed to thoroughly suppress the adverse influences of vibration on sound quality
* The power transformers, a source of vibration, have been securely mounted on the highly rigid bottom chassis
* Direct mounting of feet to the radiator in near proximity to each other serves to suppress mutual vibration with the power transformers and other sources of vibration

No such document, the 3311 does not support HDMI DSD SACD inputs. Maybe the 3312 will.

The 3310 does not appear to support DSD over HDMI, rather the 3310 has a set of (7.1) analogue inputs that have been removed.

Although the 3310 replaced the 2809, several features including DSD over HDMI and Audyssey MultEQ XT (both features of the 2809) were removed.

Interesting that Denon has effectively pushed owners of 2809 and 3808 owners into purchasing a 43xx if they want to continue playing SACDs - unless the 3312 has a surprise but at $999, I'm not sure.

Am I missing something here with this setting. Multi-channel analog bypasses all Audyssey settings doesn't it.

Should have gone with the A3000 or 4311. I swear some people need to do some better researching before they leap into something , especially when it concerns home theater gear.

What? You do not think a $150,000 projector is affordable? I am buying 2 of them and having them setup for 3D.

It was a tough call...two Tesla Roadsters, a very nice house, or two projectors. The projectors won.

yea, you'd think i'd learn...

note to others: the "pos av7005" was an inside joke...

unfortunately, i don't see anything too exciting about the new models (with the exception of xt32 dribbling down) from anyone... i'd hate to think i'm gonna have to sit on the sidelines this year...

You could do a major upgrade easily. Order the A3000, that and that Bryston amp would put you back up into the "upper" tier. Do it while your SO is out of town.

This year? It's been seven years since I've upgraded my receiver and if it wasn't for HDMI and room compensation software I might well wait a while longer (though my new Antimode seems to be doing the job with the bass--early days yet, but impressive in initial listening tests. Will run REW soon to see what is actually going on, but bass is definitely less "boomy" on my DVD-A of Hotel California).

Still, I will be moving the old AVR to the living room and getting a new one for the HT at some point. Would be nice if it would suit me for at least as long as my current one.

My observations with the 33xx line and everything below it are that Denon are in a race to the bottom with its competitors. The 3310 was $1499, 3311 $1199 and the 3312 is $999. They're not giving you stuff for free.

They're all now consumer grade audio-video pieces of equipment with the accompanying 3-digit series system to match.

oh yea, right... if i got something new like that and she wasn't around to open the box and go "ooo and ahhh", i'd be in trouble...

you know i'd like to go back to a single box solution one of these days... so technically, i'm in the market...

your point completely ignores the fact that the stuff in them gets cheaper every year as well... many things inside of a "modern" avr have been reduced to commodities over the past couple years...

it's no different from anything else that is technology driven...

it also ignores the fact that "msrp" bore no resemblance to actual street price...

ymmv... but to judge simply on msrp ignores many many things...

Except that Denon is a Japanese company and that the Japanese Yen has appreciated quite significantly in recent years (c.f. Canon increasing prices of lenses for photography.) Thus even if the prices of things go down for them, their decrease needs to offset the exchange rate increase.

But if what you were saying was correct, then the 3311 should not have dropped things like the 7.1 inputs.

But it is more than just components. There's also licensing costs for various technologies. I can't imagine that adding Dolby ProLogic CXXVII is just a simple matter of purchasing new silicon to add.

Uh oh. The only one I see to mention audessey was the 2312. Did Denon drop that feature to save cash?

Nevermind. I saw the post earlier that mentions they have it. So in order to get analog to hdmi up conversion you still need to go with at least the 1912 model. Msrp on that isn't bad. I'll have to keep my eyes open for sales on that sucker. My sony reciever just doesn't have enough power for my low efficiency speakers

The time of year to get good discounts on Denon AVRs appears to be April/May - just after the new ones have been announced. I've seen them going for 20% to 30% off. So either wait a month and get a good deal on a 2311/1911 or wait a year for a deal on the 1912.

So any new news on when we might see an annoucement (thought it was supposed to be last week?). Also, has anyone been able to dig up more dirt on the 3312? Basically, I am very curious to see if it has XT32 or not =)

Hi, per the posting a page earlier on the 1912 specs, there is a description of the amp features. Can someone put into English what they mean by
" Assign SBL/SBR power amp to Zone 2 for multi-room audio playback or to achieve higher-quality sound for 2-channel stereo playback" this is not the same as bi-amping but I don't know what it means. It sounds intriguing for someone that likes stereo sound but perhaps I don't understand its real application.

thanks

Seems to be a hastily put together placeholder for this future model as it mentions 3311CI on one line as well as 3312CI as well as the incorrect MSRB.

I actually think they mean you can assign the rear inputs for Zone 2 or use them for biamping capability for the main speakers.

So yes they mean passive bi-amping.

The AMP ASSIGN (SBL/SBR) speaker posts can also be used for another set of Front speakers ("B") that could be used for dedicated Stereo listening only with their own set of speaker settings.
