I have 250$ after replacing the amp in my Cerwin Vega CLS-12S. And I need a new Receiver.

I will be doing everything on it, Playing tons of music Rock, Classical, Electronic, and Jazz. I will also be playing alot of xbox360 games through it. And also movies.

I would like at least 4 HDMI inputs

My setup will pretty much be the receiver the powered sub, a cerwin vega center and 4 custom satelites that are in the corners of the walls

Too bad your could not swing a bit more cash, to get out of the ultra-budget category. I would look for deals on authorized dealers.

Seems there was a recent thread about receivers in this price range, but I forget the title.

"But this one goes up to 11"

I searched and could not find a thread recent in this price range... Also I dont think I really need anything above this price range.

I dont plan on ever getting 3d (Cant stand it). I dont watch TV only movies which are mostly Bluerays or DVD's, so I really dont need an upconverter. So all im really looking for is something that will push my speakers which I only have 5 (1 center and 4 satelite speakers) so no real need for 7.1.

Pretty much my tv is the monitor for my 360, ps3, and my computer. I also have 2 24" monitors setup in eyefinity next to it. I just want all of this hooked into 1 receiver to give me good sound.

Your welcome... it should fit perfect for you as it fit the "bill" under $250 as well. Good luck!

I second the Onkyo RC260. I went cheap and got the Denon 591, and I regret it. As it lacks a video processor, and I had an Onkyo before the Denon and it was much more impressive over all. I'd say spend the extra money and have no regrets. I am currently selling my Denon 591 and as soon as it sells I am going to upgrade to one of the Onkyo models prolly . I'll sell ya the Denon 591 if ya want (PM me if your interested), but I'd highly recommend spending the extra $$ on the Onkyo.

why did you need a video processor on the 591? What devices are you connecting? Your TV does a better job upconverting than a low end receiver.

here's the skinny; I bought a SR605 (Onkyo) on craigslist. It has Faroudja tech built in. Then I sold it n bought a Denon 591...this was before I even knew what Faroudja/ABT/Marvell was. The quality of the picture on my Pioneer plasma is a noticeable difference between the two (even tho the Onkyo is a lil older, picture quality is more crisp). My cable box is HD, and so are all my sources, connections for vid are all HDMI. Thing is not all HD video is the same. Some benefit from scaling/deinterlacing technology. Im not talking theory here just my personal experience. It's a noticeable difference for me. It should be noted that I don't have a KURO, I have the PDP-4340HD. But since it sounds like ur an expert on these things I am PMing u for advice on what new receiver to get!!

I ended up having some extra cash after paying all of my bills today... so Im bumping my price up to $300 out of the Excellent value list which would put out the best quality sound? Im not to interested in fancy features.

Well my vote would go towards the Onkyo RC260. Its only $37 more ( w/ shipping) than what you want to spend but well worth it I.M.O.

If you want to stay at the $300 mark, you may want to look at this!

OR... Nova mentioned he has the 591 he would sell you, maybe hes got a good price on that? You may have to PM him?

can i trust an open box receiver from new egg? do they maintin their manufactures warranty?

I have purchased several open box motherboards/ graphics cards from new egg and they maintain their manufacture waranty even open box.

I think im going to go with the Onkyo RC260 because there is a chance that the open box wont come with the mic, remote, cables, instructions, could be damaged etc...

I would think they would offer the same warranty and all acc.s'... but I cant say that for sure. Newegg is a good company as I have ordered from them before... but that was a computer though.

I do belive the RC will be the best bang for the dollar for what you are looking for. Its the same as the 608 but without the THX mode and a few minor touches. The THX mode by the way is nothing to brag about either, I tend to find it as good as some may say... so having no THX mode is a good thing really

Good luck!
