Features

Front Panel USB Digital connection with iPod and iPhone Audio Control

A USB port on the front panel provides convenient connection for your iPod/iPhone, which also charges when connected. Because the digital signal from the iPod/iPhone is transmitted directly to the AV Receiver, noise interference is minimized and sound quality is much better.

Network Capability

This model offers networking capabilities and can serve as the hub of a home entertainment network that’s connected to the Internet. Its powerful networking capabilities provide enjoyment of thousands of free Internet radio stations worldwide and full access to free and paid music streaming services such as Pandora, vTuner, Rhapsody, SiriusXM Internet Radio and Napster. This model is also Windows 7 and DLNA 1.5 certified which allows access to music files on any computer or local NAS drive content available on the home network.

iPhone AV Controller App

Use in a Home Network for More Music, Easy Control: This AV Receiver can be the control center of a home entertainment network connected to the internet. You can use the AV Controller app for control from an iPhone, etc., and enjoy music streaming from Pandora, Napster, Rhapsody and Sirius Internet Radio.

Analog and HDMI Video Upscaling to Full HD 1080p

This model is capable of outstanding upscaling and i/p conversion quality, This AV Receiver will upscale video signals up to 1080p. This means a much better picture with HDTVs capable of 720p, 1080i or 1080p resolution.

This model also features extremely precise motion adaptive and edge adaptive deinterlacing and multi-cadence detection (including 3-2 pull-down).

Advanced On-Screen GUI

On-Screen Advanced GUI (Graphical User Interface) Yamaha’s latest Graphical User Interface has a high resolution display with clear, easy-to-use menus and also includes a selectable Status Bar that shows input source, volume level, DSP mode and audio format.

HDMI with 3D and Audio Return Channel

1080p HDMI with 3D and Audio Return Channel (6 In/ 1 Out), including one on Front Panel deliver crystal-clear, all-digital audio and video via a single cable, HDMI dramatically simplifies cabling and helps provide consumers with the highest-quality home theater experience. HDMI can provide an interface between most audio/video sources, such as a set-top box, Blu-ray player, DVD player, or A/V receiver and a video monitor, such as a High Definition Television (HDTV), over a single cable.

Audio Return Channel (ARC) is a distinctive 3D-ready function allows consumers to use a single HDMI connection to transfer digital audio from the TV back to the AV Receiver eliminating the need for a second cable between the TV and the home theater AV Receiver.

Front Panel HDMI Input

An HDMI terminal on the front panel makes it easy to connect a camcorder or digital camera. All of the HDMI terminals are compatible with 3D and CEC, making them convenient for connecting set-top boxes and Blu-ray disc players.

HD Audio with CINEMA DSP 3D

CINEMA DSP 3D provides a wide, high and dense sound field. HD Audio format decoding lets you enjoy HD Audio sources. Virtual Presence Speaker delivers 3-dimensional sound without actual use of presence speakers. The actually measured sound field data contain the information of the height of the sound images. CINEMA DSP 3D mode achieves the reproduction of the accurate height of the sound images so that it creates the accurate and intensive stereoscopic sound fields in a listening room.

SCENE for One-Touch Start

The Four SCENE buttons make operating the receiver easier than ever. They are initially set to default settings for BD/DVD Viewing, CD Disc Listening, TV Viewing and Radio Listening. Pressing a SCENE button will automatically launch a number of operations that initiate play of the source controlled by that button. Other SCENE settings are also available, such as iPod Listening, SiriusXM Listening [model dependent], TV Sports Viewing and Action Game Playing. Browsing and selecting the settings is quickly accomplished by changing Input via the front panel and watching the on-screen display. The settings can be selected for one-time use, or they can replace the original default settings. The SCENE names can be changed also.

YPAO Automatically Sets the Best Sound for Any Room

Yamaha’s YPAO system uses a small microphone and sophisticated equalization to automatically set the best sound for any room, no matter where the speakers are. First it checks the speaker connections and phase of each speaker. Then it sends out tones which are captured by the microphone to analyze the room acoustics and sets a variety of parameters, such as the speaker size, the distance of the speakers and even the sound pressure level, etc. Until it achieves the best sound conditions for your room and you don't have to do anything!

Compressed Music Enhancer

When music is encoded into a digitally compressed format like MP3, the frequency response suffers. This function restores what was lost, so your music always sounds the way it should.

Eco-Friendly Design

The RX-V671 has a low standby power consumption of 0.1W (2.0W in HDMI Standby Through mode) and an Auto Power Down feature (selectable to 4, 8 or 12 hours) which help make this an environmentally friendly receiver

Optional Accessories for Added Convenience

Yamaha Docks make it easy to enjoy your favorite music from your iPod or iPhone, with or without cables. With the YDS-12, all you have to do is set the unit in the cradle.

I won't get around to trying my 700 till this weekend. I'm waiting on a component-to-HDMI box from Monoprice so I can hook up my Xbox 360 thru HDMI instead of component. If they don't have a coe up yet for the 671 I'm going to try using the 871. I read someone suggested using "last years model" but the 667 doesn't have the 'net' button.

Pardon my technology ignorance, but is there any way to connect a RX 671 to an existing wireless network? I'm not keen on running cat5 through the attic and down the wall. If so, please explain how to do it in layman terms.

Thanks in advance.

Use a wireless ethernet adaptor, sometimes referred to as a wireless game adaptor.

As I've stated before in this thread, my Harmony One works just fine (although it is still programmed for my old RX-V663).

Does anyone have outdoor antenna is the only source connected to a TV? Since antenna is directly connected to TV, how do you feed video to this receiver? Friend of mine has a TV (KDL60NX810) with ARC HDMI port but video going directly to TV, what is the best way to connect this receiver to TV. Since I have connected HDMI output from receiver to ARC HDMI port in TV, the audio is working fine but no video. Any suggestions?

Video is not sent to the receiver under this circumstance. Audio from the TV's tuner is fed to the receiver, either through the HDMI cable utilizing ARC or through an optical cable connection.

If using OTA, then just run a spdif (optical) from the TV back to the receiver.

In other words, the video never goes through the receiver - nor is there really a reason for it to.

But, use an optical cable back from the TV to the receiver to get 5.1 from the HD channels.

Hi Ambavi, select the correct video input (TV) on the tv.

I was just doing that. The only problem is, when I change the source from TV to DVD and vice versa, I have to change the video source to TV using TV remote control. I thought there might be an easier way to do this. Since I am using ARC HDMI cable, audio works fine without the optical audio cable. Thanks.

The "input" button on the AVR remote can be programmed to change the source on your television. Instructions are in the AVR's OM.

Sory but never heard of them. I got mine as a "open box" from OneCall thru amazon. It was basically brand new...nothing was opened except the tape on each end of the top but the tape itself wasn't. Everything inside was factory. OneCall's ratings on Amazon sold me on them.

There are two places on Amazon that lists "open box" but I've never done anything with them. Good price (about what I paid). I did see Vann's with the RX-A700 under $425 and that's a good unit. Some have said the deal on the RX-V867 is back as well. Don't discount Crutchfield either. they have some good deals on "open box" units.

Thanks. I assume that you are talking about one that connects to the Ethernet port and not the USB? Any suggested brands that are known to work with RX 671?

Thanks again.

I am using a Linksys WGA600N Wireless-N Gaming Adapter that wirelessly connects to my router and then a 5 port switch attached to it. It works flawlessly with the RX 671, and my Panasonic TV, and PS3. I was actually amazed as how well it worked considering my router is downstairs and everything else is upstairs.

Thanks - that's exactly what I needed to know.

Well on a side note I found a alternative to my Xbox component delemma. I had it hooked into (1) and got everything working with the one HDMI to TV except I had to power on the unit and choose in the TV menu "TV speakers or external". didn't want more cables and wnted everything thru the AVR since I mounted the TV. I ended up buying one of those Component-to-HDMI converter boxes from Monoprice

http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...seq=1&format=2

It works like a charm. Granted it was $40 but I have HDMI all going in and one going out. And picture and sound is just as good as it was with direct connection with a toslink to AVR. I will try the 700 Harmony tomorrow since we're expecting rain most of the day.

Unfortunately, my local HHGregg wouldn't match them. They offered me a decent price but not quite good enough for me to pull the trigger.

The Linksys WGA600N Wireless-N Gaming Adapter wirelessly connects to your router and provide one LAN port. I connected a 5 port LAN switch to that and all my devices to the switch. They all work flawlessly.

I just bought a cheapo Harmony 650 from Best Buy and the RX-V671 was a device option and it works just fine with the remote. It even lets me use the NET and USB options to control my Ipod and Pandora. I couldn't be happier right now.

Did you go into MyHarmony.com and DL the software or thru the Logitech site? Haven't done it to my 700 but someone a severa days ago posted on the Harmony forums there was no option for devices with the RX-V671 listed.

Thank you for the tip - Newegg is an 'authorized' Yamaha internet dealer and the $150 gift card clinches the deal for me.

*** update: also got the $10.00-off new customer promo, and another 1% off using another affinity site... awesomeness.

I had to check this because it sounds like a mistake but it's there. Not tied into speakers or anything else...straight out $150 card with a RX-V671. That's a FREAKN' STEAL!!
