Since with multi-channel audio it's not just room acoustics in play but also the "blending" of those multiple channels, which includes timing and bass management that RC's like Audyssey breeze through.

I think passive acoustic treatments can have a bigger impact than EQ depending on the room, but the combination of both is unparalleled.

Ok, thanks guys. I actually started to look at $400 and less receivers but couldn't imagine hooking up my Klipsch RF-7IIs and my Emotiva amps to such receivers. I may or may not tell the difference, but it would seem like having a really good sound system hooked up to my mother's old 1980 13" TV.

Ok, back on topic.
