I've been having an issue with my Denon AVR-1908 where, randomly, it will cause the speakers and the sub to begin crackling and popping sporadically and then it will go into protection mode (standby light flashing red). I have a Comcast Motorola HD-DVR and Samsung Blu-Ray both connected to the recieve via HDMI. I have felt around on the reciever immediately after it enters protect mode, but I haven't noticed any excessive heat. The reciever is plugged into a surge protector, along with a Klipsch powered sub, the TV, the cable box, and the blu-ray...could this be the problem? Also, the RS/LS speakers are using 20 ga speaker wire (approx 20'-25' runs for each of the surround speakers. Could the rear speaker wire gauge cause an issue like this? Is there any way to determine whether the reciever is the problem? Like I said, I can have the AVR on for 8 hours, and there may not be any issues, but on other days it may only last 10 mins before entering protection mode. Seems completely random. Also, power doesn't appear to make a difference. My wife was watching TV this morning while the rest of us were asleep (approx -40dB) and it still started crackling and went into protect mode.
Is anybody able to offer any advice on this? Thanks in advance!
