My 2 month old Onkyo TX-NR708 has suddenly decided to freeze. When I turn it on (have to use the power cord, the power button does not work), it stays on a certain video mode. The video and audio works, but I can't change inputs, volume, etc. I never touch a button in front so I don't think it's stuck or anything. This is very strange. Can someone help? I emailed their support but have heard nothing back

Thanks
David

Try doing a factory reset. It's on page 84 in your manual. A warning. You will loose all settings by doing this.

Thats to bad. Im afraid there is most likely something wrong inside the AVR and you will probably need to get it serviced. Call Onkyo and see what they tell you to do. Don't wait for an Email reply. Im sure they are going to have you take into an authorized repair facility.

Ok I got it out of standby by holding the power button down when I plugged in the receiver. but after that, I can't change anything, volume doesn't work, no input button works. Ugh

Thanks I will do that. They probably ignored me because I didn't enter my serial number, a pain to get to without unplugging everything

There has been some issues with the 708/808/1008 with freeze ups and some automatically switching inputs. Also remote controls not working on some units. I think your AVR could be one of the units suffering from this.
