Power On Selection

I have a Denon 1712 paired with a Samsung 6350 TV. I am currently connecting to it with HDMI and using ARC. Previous to the Samsung I had a Sony TV and when turning on the TV it would default to the TV mode. I would then hit Sat/Cbl to turn on the tv to view my Comcast connection. I called Sony and they mentioned it was because I was using ARC and that is the behavior of the TV. Now with the Samsung it does the same thing. Is there a way to when I power on the TV (Which then powers on the receiver) it will default to the Sat/Cbl so I can eliminate one step?

Yup. Don't use HDMI(ARC) but rather connect an optical cable from the TV to AVR. Set Anynet+ to OFF.

That was my fear. I just mounted the TV, ran the wires and electric in wall, and set up all the electronics in the entertainment center in front if it. Looks like it will be a long weekend project. Thank you for the response.

Much easier to just purchase a Harmony remote and program it to allow a pause before going to the source you want.

That does sound much easier! I will have to take a look closer at them. Do they all typically have that feature?

Yes. The 650 is a nice inexpensive model to look into with a display screen.

It's probably not much consolation to tell you this, but the new models have a setting which blocks the behavior. I guess enough people complain about it that Denon finally decided to give a way to escape wonky HDMI CEC input switching.

Need to return 2112 on warranty after "local" repairman returned it to me.

Purchased my denon 2112 with full warranty. I live on Kauai and knew if there was a problem it would have to be shipped somewhere. I called denon about my problem and they referred me to the only guy in Hawaii who services amps. After having the amp for a month he told me Denon did not have the part and told me he would return it to me and I could hassle with Denon myself. "Too much paperwork for him to deal with". He said I should just put in for a replacement unit.

I went on vacation a couple of month ago and unplugged my unit from the wall. At that time I had already lost the GUI aspect(read out on front panel but I could access by using the screen of TV). Upon return I plugged in the amp and I could not get sound through the speakers. The mute icon would show but more importantly I was getting blue screen read outs on the tv and the pixels were all messed up. It looked to me like an HDMI issue of some sort. After fiddling with the menu readout and testing HDMI cables I finally contacted denon who got me in touch with the repairman.

He told me it was an HDMI issue something about the Signals being too strong but he needed to order a part. 3 weeks later he contacts me and says denon says it is out of stock and he thinks I should just put in for a replacement.

Have not contacted denon but just wanted to know the best tack on talking to Denon. It is under warranty and shipping to/from HAwaii can take a long time. Any suggestions. The amp is worthless to me at this point.

Most likely Denon will ship a refurbished 2112CI (if available, otherwise a refurbished 2113CI) to you and then pay to have you ship the 2112CI back to Denon. Have you tried doing at least 4-5 microprocessor resets (p. 129 Owner's manual) in a row?

I don't think so but the denon support had me do a couple of shut down things and reboots and then said I needed a repair. he repairman said I needed a replacement.?? Thanks for your reply. I tried the micro process thing on my own. Should I get the 2113 while I am at it or is it just the same new model number?Just looked at the review on the 2113ci. Might as well get that.

Thanks. The follow up by Denon was very good. They called the repairman and got him straightened out and called me back to tell me to call the repairman and request a dra number from him concerning the parts needed to fix the unit in a week. Apparently, the repairman had not done anything. Hoping a call from denon will get him on the job. We shall see. Just FYI about the world we live in the repairman at one time had 13 people working for him fixing electronics, tvs, stereos etc. Now it is just him. Sad. Nothing gets fixed, just thrown away.

Are you trying to use Spotify Connect? The receiver doesn't have that, it was only just added in the newest models.

In fact that model doesn't even have Spotify at all so the only way to stream it would be to fire it up in an app and then stream via AirPlay.

Are there any good Android apps which support AirPlay?

Don't know about spotify; but, my Blu ray player & TV have YouTube apps that work (i.e. Pair) with my iPhone YouTube App.

Yep.. my tv pairs with android youtube app as well.

But for this to work I need to turn on tv and receiver.

And I would like to stream directly to receiver.
