Apparently, the repairman had not done anything. Hoping a call from denon will get him on the job. We shall see. Just FYI about the world we live in the repairman at one time had 13 people working for him fixing electronics, tvs, stereos etc. Now it is just him. Sad. Nothing gets fixed, just thrown away.
Finally got a replacement from denon after some wrangling here and there. All in all very satisfied with support. Got a refurbished AVrx2000 as an upgrade replacement so I am happy. Thanks to Denon Team Support.

Did I make a mistake?

My daughter owns the Denon AVR-1612 and I just purchased a pair of Micca MB42 speakers for her to use as left/right surrounds.

I see now that the MB42's are rated at 4 ohms, 75 watts with 85 dB sensitivity. 60-20,000 Hz. 4" woofer and .75" silk tweeter.

Presently she is only using some Sony floor speakers and center channel. No subwoofer.

Trying to decide if I should I send them unopened when they arrive?

Surrounds don't draw much power and if she doesn't listen too loud, should be fine.

It all depends on how loud she listens -- at 85dB sensitivity, with low power handling, these speakers are not designed to play very loud. It's impossible to get precise with the numbers but if she never really goes about -20dB volume (60 out of 80 on the absolute scale) it's probably fine.

Anyone using a NAS to stream audio to their AVR-1912? My 1912 is connected directly via ethernet to my home network's wireless router. I'm presently using the receiver's DLNA function to stream audio from a networked PC, but would like to do away with having to run the PC to listen to music. What I'm looking for:
NAS able to stream without PC running.
Ability to stream high-quality FLAC (24/96) and ALAC files.
Easy to set up and use, with control from an itunes app or a tv with the Denon remote.
Must be able to play gapless audio tracks and show album art/info.
I don't need massive amounts of storage.
Thanks for any help.
Mike

spotify & XM RADIO?

Has there been any firmware updates that allow SPOTIFY Connect and XM RADIO on the 2112CI receiver? I see newer models have it.

Thanks .... Dave

Nope. Spotify Connect is a new feature only available on the new 2014 models. SiriusXM is featured on the XX13 and newer models.

The Crown XLI amp has a 0.775v or 1.4v switch. I guess 1.4v is +4dBu, which is pro gear level. Is 0.775v the correct setting?
The miniDSP also has a similar thing... 0.9vrms or 2vrms, which I'm also confused.
Which should I get for gain-structure-matching with Denon 3312 preouts?

Question Is the 1712 fully 3D capable ?

Been having an issue with my 1712 since day one, checking if its something on my side or if there is a setting I am missing some where.

Noticed that receiver fails to declares itself as 3D capable device during auto negotiation with other devices (say PS3 or HTPC), yet once forced it works just fine (connect PS3 directly to the 3DTV, enable 3D on PS3, unplug same cable from TV and into the 1712 and run 3D content).

I really didn't mind till I got a set-top that queries display capabilities at each boot (and/or HDMI re-connection), so I went to manually check the E-DID for the 1712

Code:

As shown above there is no 3D support reflected on the edid info.

Any insights ?

I'm using an old NAS (Netgear ReadyNAS Duo) which has a DLNA server on it. I can stream mp3 files to my 2312ci but prefer to stream audio, pictures and HD video to my PS3. Many newer routers have DLNA servers that can serve media from a USB drive attached to the router.

You'll have to check the specifications about streaming FLAC files....

The XX12 models are all HDMI 1.4 certified to pass full 1080p 3D video, however, the 1712 can only display the GUI on 2D video.

Thanks jdsmoothie for the reply, actually I am aware of that limitation on the 1712, but I am afraid my problem is a different one.
As you can see from the edid info I posted above my 1712 is not detected as a 3D device at all (check the VIC matrix above), yet I know its passing 3D just fine (as it works once forced), this is a particular issue with devices that relies solely on DID querying to determine the capabilities of the connected display.

I was wondering how does the edid info of other 1712 owners looks like ? or if something like a PS3 would display the 3D options during setup when connected to their 1712 (or other XX12 models).
