Ah, didn't know they existed. Thanks for the info.

But in theory, connecting the Denon to a 4K TV would work? Or does it depend on the specific TV?

They don't yet. Won't likely be released until this fall. When passing a 1080p or lower resolution signal via the AVR, the TV will simply upscale to 4k.

What's better (or does it matter), upgrade receiver to 4k or allow TV to scale? I have a Samsung HU8550

The TV and/or source will likely do just as good of a job.

jd, I'm having trouble getting video from my PS2 to the TV. I followed the guide, and put all 3 cables, red white and yellow where the manual says to put them. And went into the menu and went to DVD and set HDMI to none and component to (I've tried RCA-1 and RCA-2) and both of them only give me audio and no video when I switch to DVD. That's where I decided to hook my PS2 as. Do I have to purchase an additional component cable and send that out from the receiver to the TV? The manual doesn't say so, and I think I've hit a wall as far as the manual being able to help me.

The denon 1712 is listed in the first post. . I think this is the right thread, I hope. Anyway, I don't see where the option to select what you posted. .

The input menu on the 1712 looks like this. .

As you failed to post what model you were discussing, I presumed you meant the X4000 that is in your sig. This is the correct thread for the 1712; however, as the 1712 has no video chip installed, you will have to connect the TV with the same type input cable being used from the PS2, in this case, yellow composite video.

Ah. Yeah that's complicated, and I would have to change the input on the TV every time I wanted to switch. I'm glad to know that. My TV downstairs doesn't even have any composite video connectors. Sorry for the confusion. Damn.

JD - I have a 5.2 setup with Klipsch reference floors, center and bookshelves. I can get the x4000 for $799 and have a few questions on possible upgrade from the 2112. Is there a significant upgrade from Audy XT to XT32, is the dual sub mgmt worth it, is DSX worth it...any other things I should consider? I'm really happy with the 2112, but wonder if the benefit is worth the upgrade.

Although there certainly won't be a night and day difference, upgrading to an XT32 model should provide a noticeable increase in audio quality. As you have 2 subs, then using Sub EQ HT will provide for better calibration if not using identical subs each placed equidistant from the main listening position. DSX using Front Wides definitely helps to expand the front sound stage, however, most actually prefer using DTS Neo:X for Front Wides.

Thanks! The subs are left and right and equally placed from listening. Sounds like I would notice a small difference, not really enough to spend 799

If you can hold off your purchase, better to upgrade to the X4100W's successor in Sep that will include DTS:X and consider possibly adding either Front/Rear height or ceiling speakers for Dolby Atmos.

I have a Denon x4000 upgraded from a 1712 and I can give you my personal opinion. XT32 is much more than a "small difference". The difference to me was huge. I went from having good surround sound to, man that voice is coming from the air around me. I also have Klipsch and XT32 made them shine, as well as the subs seem even more hard hitting now.

Helo, i have question on the DENON AVR 1912..

I wonder whether this receiver can play a very popular internet radio -TuneIn ?

The specifications state only Pandora, Napster, vTuner and Rhapsody, and there is no mention TuneIn.

The new Denon HEOS app can stream TuneIn to wireless Denon HEOS speakers. With the Denon HEOS Link connected to the AVR, you could stream TuneIn to the AVR.

Will the 1612 be able to power all of this? I have the Energy Take Classic 5.1 system but I want to upgrade the center and two front speakers. I want to add two Polk Audio Monitor70 Series II speakers and a Polk Audio TSi CS10.

Should not be a problem as long as you don't listen at extremely loud volume levels.

Thanks for the reply. What would you consider extremely loud? Louder than reference level?
