I'm extremely salty about this stupid receiver. It is terrible in comparison to my 10 year old Pioneer unit. When it works, the sound is great. So much for stepping up to a higher end unit/brand.
Sorry about the rant, I'm just tired of the looks that my wife keeps giving me, and saying "you just had to buy a new receiver, the old one was fine and music sounded great".
Unfortunately, I believe some others have had this issue with DirectTV and nothing you can really fix because they will blame each other for the problem, although it's most likely direct TV to blame. I had a similar issue between my LG TV and Comcrap box when I first got my TV and had to switch it to Component to solve the problem. Once I got FIOS, no problem. I have FIOS now, using the SR6006 and no issues at all. So in summary, here are your options:
1)Change to component, use the optical cable for sound - Hopefully this works
2) If this doesn't work, try the box straight into the TV, with video and audio out to the the receiver, then HDMI from receiver into the TV( not sure if this works but worth a shot).
3) Get FIOS - If available, of course. Picture quality is much better than anything out there.
4) Skip running the video and sound thru the receiver altogether.
5) Give the wife some cash to keep quiet
You may want to swap out different model boxes also and see if that works. I can understand the frustration as I went thru "growing pains" also with this receiver, trying to figure out what I changed that scewed up something else. Once I got it all figured out, I am very happy with the SR6006.
PS. Who is your ISP? They may be to blame for the network problem with the first two, especially if you are using their router.
