The thing is that the HDMI input isn't an active source that I can select, it's as if it disappears. I tried both setting it to SAT an SOURCE. I have had it working for a couple of weeks with no problem, turned on the DVD and now its screwed up.

Just to make sure I get this right, I have SAT and GAME(PS3) set to SAT under video select. I just tried it and the pass thru is working fine.

Does anyone have any updates for the Net/USB display and playback issue on the 5006? I can not get my unit to play internet radio unless i do a processor reset. Even after resetting the processor it only works one time. If I switch to another source I can not go back to internet radio unless I reset the processor. This is a huge pain in the balls and something I should not have to do on a brand new receiver. Once I select internet radio from the gui, it just goes black and doesn't play any sound or show any video.

The most recent firmware update did nothing to fix this on my unit. Anyone???

Wondering if any one is using the IR in on the 6006. I have an IR connecting block and wanted to see if I could use an IR connecting block direct from an emitter to the 6006? The 6006 will be in a cabinet.

I have my SR6006 connected to an iTach via a stereo mini plug cable. It works.

I am using iRule. I use IP for the iPad Control of the SR6006. This gives me feed back for Volume, Audio Mode, etc. The reason for the IR Control is that there can only be a single device connected via IP. With IR Control my Wife can use her iPhone for control while my iPad is connected via IP.

I don't know how this compares to the apple version but it does everything I need it to.

Apple app works well for me on both iPad and iPhone.

Hey Guys, I purchased a Marantz SR5006 about a month ago. Set it up and love my sound. I have my Marantz SR5006 pushing audio out to my Energy CB-5's and CC-5's with a Energy ESW-M8. I do a lot of research on these things and my sound is amazing. I have inputted to my receiver:
- Verizon Fios Motorola DVR Box
- Samsung 3d Blu ray Player

On the output its going to my Samsung PN64D8000. I have a beautiful setup. So I broke it in with about 200hrs of music in a months period and I am happy with my amp except for one thing. I had one of the best calibrators come to my house which is Kevin Miller from ISF calibrators. He knows his stuff and has trained numerous people on this matter. He calibrated my tv. The colors came in beautiful but when it came to my White's it was clipping it. Meaning downgrading it to a darker shade.
The way we found out its the receiver that is doing that is by bypassing the receiver. We disconnected the blu ray from the receiver and connected it straight to the tv. It produced the exact amount of white that we needed. I called Marantz today and the guy was confused about video. He just didn't have a clue. Now I haven't updated my Marantz yet because I wanted to break it in first and learn all the in's and out's, so I don't know if that would do the trick.
I know there is nothing wrong with my receiver. I know that it has to do with the finish product because colors came in flawlessly. I understand that this is a bypass video receiver but I don't know if there is any setting that we could control on the video side. Can someone let me know if you have professionally calibrated your tv through the Marantz sr5006. Also, do you think the update firmware my fix this issue. Marantz specialist was clueless to this matter. He was reading the manual as I was speaking to him. Any information is greatly appreciated.

If I'm not mistaken as long as your not using all 7 channels you can use the amp assign terminals to power the second zone.

I'm interested in this receiver to replace my aging Pioneer. Does the onscreen GUI include volume? Does anyone know where I can see screen shots of the GUI?

I think there is a custom setup, which I can't name at the moment, but it allows for dB and distance adjustments. Also, you can change crossover settings as well.

To adjust the speaker or sub volume, simply press the "AMP" button and then the "CH Level" button ("8") on the remote (p. 71).

Anyone else having issues with dropping sound from a directv box connected via Hdmi? If I pause my sat box and switch the input to game, the sound doesn't play when I unpause the tv signal. Do I have a unit that is having handshake issues now? I'm on my third unit. The first two wouldn't let me play Internet radio more than 1 time without doing a processor reset in order to use it again.

I'm extremely salty about this stupid receiver. It is terrible in comparison to my 10 year old Pioneer unit. When it works, the sound is great. So much for stepping up to a higher end unit/brand.

Sorry about the rant, I'm just tired of the looks that my wife keeps giving me, and saying "you just had to buy a new receiver, the old one was fine and music sounded great".

Unfortunately, I believe some others have had this issue with DirectTV and nothing you can really fix because they will blame each other for the problem, although it's most likely direct TV to blame. I had a similar issue between my LG TV and Comcrap box when I first got my TV and had to switch it to Component to solve the problem. Once I got FIOS, no problem. I have FIOS now, using the SR6006 and no issues at all. So in summary, here are your options:

1)Change to component, use the optical cable for sound - Hopefully this works

2) If this doesn't work, try the box straight into the TV, with video and audio out to the the receiver, then HDMI from receiver into the TV( not sure if this works but worth a shot).

3) Get FIOS - If available, of course. Picture quality is much better than anything out there.

4) Skip running the video and sound thru the receiver altogether.

5) Give the wife some cash to keep quiet

You may want to swap out different model boxes also and see if that works. I can understand the frustration as I went thru "growing pains" also with this receiver, trying to figure out what I changed that scewed up something else. Once I got it all figured out, I am very happy with the SR6006.

Good luck!

PS. Who is your ISP? They may be to blame for the network problem with the first two, especially if you are using their router.

LOL, that may just be the best option. "here's a few hundred, shut up and buy something for yourself..."

ISP is Comcrap, I'm using a netgear wi-fi router and switch. the netgear switch is located in my equipment rack and it feeds the TV, reciever, xbox, directv box and my blu-ray player. The switch gets a direct feed from the back of my router. I've even eliminated the switch to see if that was giving me the issue, that wasn't it. I've tried to trouble shoot everything that I can. Calling Marantz, they told me to take the unit back to the store to have them test it or take it to a friends house to test it there. So, i took it to a friends house (another pain in the ass...) and it did the same thing over there. I'm really at wits end.

I would try with component cable, then again it may just look better going direct to the TV and skip the marantz and then just use it for sound. Not entirely impressed with the upscaling of the marantz anyway.

Much of that is due to the difference in Audyssey versions between the two AVRs. The Audyssey 2EQ in the 607 was unable to EQ the sub, while the Audyssey MultEQ XT in the 5006 can not only EQ the sub, but has 16x the number of speaker filters as does 2EQ.

Replaced my Pioneer Elite with the SR5006 a week ago. Anyone else have an issue with the receiver not being able to turn on (Either by remote or hitting the power button on the receiver) and the only way to get it back is to unplug it and plug it back in?

If it's not the result of a loose power cable connection, then you'll likely want to exchange it for another unit.
