Hi everyone, i thought quite a few people might be interested in the following solution to the Network card issues with the Denon 3310.

I found the solution on some other forum. I had this problem 3 months ago and after days and hours searching the net i eventually sent it back to Denon to get it repaired as suggested by everyone who came across this bloody Network problem. Anyway after 50 days i eventually received my Denon avr3310 back. It was back to normal working order. It failed on me 10 days ago again and completely dispaired i was about to return it for the second time.
However a few hours before sending it back i decided to try my luck again on AVSforum and others when i found a new solution that i had never encountered before. I tried it and it worked like a charm. MY Denon AVR3310 NIC reset itself and worked again !!!! Couldn't believe it !! I'm stunned this hasn't become common knowledge considering how long this NIC issue has been unresolved.

anyway , sorry for the rambling....here it is..

"reset the network card by turning the receiver off the same way as before (small power button). Then, press the Up and Down buttons on the circular Up/Down/Right/Left set and turn it on, holding them in for about 5 seconds before releasing them. Once it's done resetting, go to Menu, Manual Setup, Networking and verify that it has an IP address"

There are 2 things that will make my network card work for a little while. One is the network reset that you mentioned. The other is turning off the 3310 and resetting the router and modem. It worked for 1 day last time I tried it. I gave up though.

Yes ... as was pointed out in the 3310 Owner's thread the network reset does not actually "solve" a defective network card problem, rather only delays the inevitable replacement of the card if it is indeed defective. The network reset has been discussed for the past year in the Denon 3310 and 4310 Owner's threads as a temporary fix only. If your card has been replaced and is experiencing the same issues again, it was likely replaced with another defective card and will need to be replaced again.

oh ****...thx for bursting my bubble !! ....I was about to pop a bottle of champagne! oh well let's see how long this works for before the next breakdown.....

Im absolutely disgusted that Denon could have replaced my faulty card with a another faulty one. This is unacceptable from a company such as Denon who live by their reputation of quality products. If this happens again which you guys seem to think it will, im gonna send Denon a letter with a piece of my mind and then call them, and then send another letter and then call them again and so on and so on untill they acknowledge their **** up and offer me a proper solution (why not a replacement model that doesnt have these issues such ...maybe a 4312

One guy had some issue with his 3310 NIC replacement and they gave him a refurb 3311. Not a bad deal in my opinion. I think that was when the network cards were backordered though.

was there a link to buy a new network card?

That would be cheaper than ordering it. I have seen some post that say Denon now has the network cards in stock so it shouldn't take as long as it did before when they were on backorder. I will probably send mine in at some point but I want to have a replacement ready.

wow: I sent the receiver to Denon Factory service center in NJ on Monday 23 May:

it just was delivered today repaired under warranty at no charge: repair ticket says unit has been cleaned, checked and all functions tested: recovered DM860 network functions: reshipped on 25 May

the repaired unit is wrapped in plastic and shipped in a new box

that is excellent service

[network card works too!]

So - - my card just died and have tried all the resets both on the unit and with the router. No joy. So looks like I shall have to purchase a new card. Thanks to all posts I know which part and where to order it from.

My question which you may be able to help with -

My unit is AVR-4310 (not CI, which I understand is for the US model), I'm based in Hong Kong currently and bought it brand new here. Same NIC ok to drop in? 8R1891001200D (DM860 SUB ASSY).

I can have it shipped to in-laws in Chicago and onto here - neither pacparts nor Hermans shall ship to me direct. Denon HK insist on taking the unit in and shan't just sell me the part...weeks of incovenience therefore.

So it looks like I have a bad network card for my AVR-3310CI. It used to work when I first setup the unit. But now that I wanted to make some configuration changes via the webbrowser, I found out that the connection doesn't work anymore.

Based on this thread, best thing is for me to replace it. I just learned that I'm out of warranty so my question is, is this a simple replacement that the average technical person (me) can make?

I posts above, I got the part number for the 3310 is 8R1891001200D (DM860 SUB ASSY)

Looks like it's 150 dollars. I willing to purchase it if it's something I should be able to replace on my own.....

Althought the NIC has been reported as being very easy to replace (similar to changing a memory card on a PC ... just a few minutes), if you haven't already contacted Denon, I would do so as they may still repair it under warranty for you.

I was hoping to get by with my original network card, but recently, we redid the family room and I had to unplug all of my components. When I hooked it back up, I hooked up all of my component's ethernet ports to an ethernet switch and had one of the ports from the switch over to my modem.

Either turning it off or the switch made my AVR unhappy; it's stuck at 'Ether IMG 01min Updating'. Seen that one before? Anyway, after reconnecting the AVR directly to the modem, rebooting the modem, and several network resets to no avail, I bit the bullet and called Denon support. There's only one service company in the Maryland area and they told me that it could be up to 2 weeks before they can actually get to my receiver, due to backlog. But they have to have it for that time in case they can get to it earlier. Wonderful. They also mentioned that it's not just the Denon that is having network problems and that the other problem popping up was the HDMI issue. Fortunately, the unit still has a few months left in its two year warrantee, so it'll be a free repair. I asked the repair place if there were an upgrade option, but got a no from them. I assume that there isn't one available.

Although the 3310CI only has a 2 year warranty, your credit card provider may add an addtional year making it 3 years total.

Actually, the 3310CI has a 2 year warranty. The newer models have the 3 year warranty.

After a couple of weeks, I finally convinced the local repair center to order a new network card. They seemed to think that it could be a software issue. I told them that the firmware update failed in exactly the same place that others have reported. They've put a rush on the network card as I am close to my 3rd week without my 3310CI. They're going to replace the card and see if that fixes it. I'd be surprised if it didn't. I'll report back when I know more.

Hi Chaps,

My card has just gone to heaven on my 3310, i spoke to the distributor who stocks Denon parts in the UK, he didnt have the part but has now agreed to stock it

Still a bit on the expensive side but i think it might be worth it if you need the network functionality !

Depending on your connectivity requirements, you may want to hold off on procuring the NIC as networking is moving all the way down to the soon to be released 1613.

The new Denon AVR XX13 line is being released here in the states (1513, 1613, 1713, etc.) this week and likely over in Europe in another month or two. Networking has dropped all the way down to the 1613 (replaces 1610 from when you purchased the 3310) which also includes the same MultEQ as used in your 3310. However, the 1912, released last year over there, not only features networking, but also the more advanced MultEQ XT. So I'm just saying that before you put a couple of hundred $$$USD into a new NIC, you may want to check out the 1912 or wait for the new XX13 line to see if your money is better used in a new AVR as opposed to fixing the old one.

Denon AVR-3310CI networking issue

After doing this multiple times over the last 2 years, I still can't get the Network information to reset.
I HAVE, however, made an interesting observation.
I have the AVR set to use DHCP to get an IP address. I have a specific IP address assigned to the Denon MAC address in my DHCP server configuration.
With the AVR turned on and stuck in the "Connecting" mode, I use port mapping software to probe the IP assigned to the AVR - I get full identification of the AVR, including the Denon OS and other info.

This means that the network card IS working as it should.
Therefore, the problem is with the processor or software within the 3310 .....
Is there any way to connect to the Denon via SSH or telnet to test the oblem?

HELP !!!!!!

There is a problem on network card. You have to resoled the BGA chip, there is a bad contact under it. I use the hot air station and heat the chip with 420 degrees celsius.

time to pull out my NIC card and runt it in my resoler jigg... :)  i got nothing to loos... its already dead.

 

What happens if i remove my NIC and try to run my avr3310?  will it start and operate like it should?

Or will it just hang and do nothing...??

I know this is a thread necro but I'd be interested to know the same, since from my reading Denon apparently makes you send your old NIC back before giving you a new one.
