Hi everyone,

I am in the market looking for a good 5.1 receiver with a outstanding Music/Movie performance. I have a set of infinity classia speakers and JBL subwoofer. My living room is only wired for 5.1 and I don't care too much about internet connectativity. All I want is good sound.

It has been 6 years since last time I was on the market for a receiver(I got a Yamaha RX-V2600).

I feel a little bit lost about today's product. Please help me out.

I am willing to spend less than $600.

Thanks,

Budget? Check out the new Denon AVR-1712 (MSRP $399) due out very soon which will use the more advanced version of Audyssey MultEQ XT. No networking and very few inputs.

** Think the AVR is defective?  Reset the microprocessor 4-5 times.

The Onk 509 only uses the most basic Audyssey 2EQ which provides no EQ of the sub at all and is two levels below the MultEQ XT in the Denon 1712.

Thanks,

If sound quality is more important to you, I recommend you look at NAD T747 on sale for $599 froM crutchfield and audioadvisor. Excellent audio quality, less bells and whistles. Check out the official 747 thread. I have owned several brands before including denon and onkyo and NAD is in a different league.
