Thanks for reading this and please let me know if I should post it elsewhere instead.
I have a mid-2010 13" MacBook Pro and a Yamaha RX-V667. I want to be able to watch movies and listen to music from my MacBook through my RX-V667 on my surround sound + projector set up.
I have a Moshi Mini-DP to HDMI adapter that I plug in to my MacBook Pro.
When I use the Moshi Mini-DP to HDMI adapter to connect the MacBook to the HDMI in on a friend's LCD TV, both sound and video successfully play through the TV.
When I connect a standard DVD player to the Yamaha receiver via HDMI, both sound and video play successfully on my projector + surround sound.
However, when I attempt to play sound or video from my MacBook on the Yamaha receiver using the HDMI adapter, it doesn't work. Both the MacBook and the Yamaha's video temporarily go dark as if they realize something is happening, but then go back to normal as if nothing has happened!
I have tried Yamaha and Apple tech support to no avail.
I have also tried repeatedly hitting the appropriate HDMI button on the remote to no avail.
There are no display settings on the MacBook Pro that I can manipulate. OSX only lets you manipulate external display settings once a display is recognized, and the process is failing before display recognition.
Does anyone know how I can get this to work? I was so excited to enjoy music and movies from the MacBook over my HT setup, and this has been driving me insane for months now!
Thanks for your time!
