can you use it as an app on another device and then thru the Yamaha?

Have you called Yamaha customer service about this?
They are actually one of THE BEST customer service places you will ever encounter

If Yamaha doesn't update the firmware, I'm guessing the cheapest workaround is something like a Chromecast (if it supports Rhapsody) for $35 or less.

though the Triad On Wall Silver Surrounds are listed for sale, and will be replaced by direct radiating speakers.

Ok...Yamaha did reply to my e-mail in just over 24 hours....they gave me the instructions to force the 2010 into an update mode and it downloaded new firmware ver.1.60!! Rhapsody is back up!!! well done Yamaha ...This is a 2011 model and my fear was that they would no longer provide updates....Solid equipment AND good customer service??? thank you Yamaha!!!

Hi guys.

Just got an used Aventage 2010 and i have a problem. Music and movies are excellent sounding, the classic radio sound is poor/metalic with no bass. Even at direct/pure audio.

I have searched everything, i can't find anything.

My previous Yamaha RXV 2700 tuner was excellent.

Any ideas ? Thanks

I have some ideas, but I need some more information to help troubleshoot.

Are you using the same antenna you used with the RXV 2700 ? If so, is it in the same location? Do you have the same problem on both AM and FM stations? Do you have any HD radio stations near you? Is the problem only on tuner or is it also on net radio?

My personal preference is to use the 7-channel stereo mode on my 1010 for radio listening.

Hi and thanks for your time.

I'm using the 2010's antenna. Same location, i have checked everything. I'm only listening to FM and i have no HD stations in my country. And i haven't cheched with net radio, i haven't connected yet the 2010.

The 2010 FM tuner specifications show it to be slightly less sensitive than the 2700, but that small difference should not be causing the poor sound. If you are using an indoor antenna try adjusting the position to see if it increases the signal level and improves the sound. Even a few cm change in location or a few degrees in rotation can make a huge difference.

If you can connect the 2010 to the internet and can find an FM station that also streams its program over the internet you could compare the sound of the same program between the two sources.

The DSP in the Yamaha receivers is pretty good, in my opinion. Using the surround enhancer or multi-channel stereo options seems to me to give a fuller sound with more bass. Of course part of that is that it simply sounds louder since you have more amplifier channels active.
