I'm having a tough time choosing between two of Pioneers slim receivers (it needs to be slim to fit into my TV unit). The VSX-S300 and VSX-S500.
Can't post the URLs because I'm not allowed, but they're both on the AU pioneer website (dunno if they're released in the US yet).
Obviously, the S500 is better, but most of the features I don't really care about. I won't use the Apple product functionality, and 1080p upscaling is nice, but not a big deal for me. The main thing that grabs me is the network functions and upgradable firmware that the S500 has.
So my question is are the network features of a receiver that important or can I live without it? I want this to last for a while, so upgradable firmware is probably a good thing, but I can't think of much that they could really add that would make the receiver last longer.
Bear in mind, I'm going to be using this exclusively for video game consoles.
