Hey guys

I'm looking to buy a receiver and I found a Denon AVR-1712 on ebay for $325. It says it is brand new, and I contacted the seller and he confirmed that it is indeed new, and I can return it within 7 days if I'm not happy. I also asked him if he will ship it with a receipt, and he said he doesn't ship receipts.

So my question is, do you need a receipt for Denon warranty purposes? Or just the physical warranty that should come in the box?

I'm new to HT so any help is appreciated.

Most eBay sellers are not authorized Denon resellers, most especially the one's that don't provide a receipt as without it you generally cannot get any warranty work done. You can buy a 3rd party warranty, although most of them require some period of a valid mfr's warranty (eg. 90 days).

Review the Warranty paragraph 9(c) in post #3 in the Denon XX12 Owner's Thread linked in my sig.

"JD" - Call 585-645-1006 or email for AVR selection and pricing discussion 8am - 8pm EST daily (incl Sat/Sun)
AV Science - Dealer for Denon, Marantz, Yamaha, Onkyo, Def Tech, Atl Tech, SVS, Oppo

Think you have a defective AVR? Owner's manual - Factory reset 4-5 times in a row.
