Running Mac OSX Lion on a brand new Mac Pro. It's connected via a Kramer optical DVI cable to a Christie HD8K projector.

We turn the projector off at night, but leave the computer running its video program. We find that when we check in the morning, and turn the projector back on, there's image but no sound. We need to go to sound preferences and click on the Firewire Solo (even though it's still selected) in order to get the sound to come back.

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

doesn't seem related to projector state after all, now it's cutting out in the middle of the day while the projector is on.

Could it be that the firewire port is going to sleep after 24+ hours?

Could it be the FW Solo?

Could it be Lion?
