Reciever: Onkyo TX-NR3008
Purchased: Dec. 8, 2010
Defective on: July 23, 2011
Sent on/to: Aug. 16, 2011 / recieved by United Radio Service an authorized
service center on Aug. 19, 2011.

Repair status: Aug. 24, 2011 Receiver was damaged when shipped from USPS
and will need to be repaired for that specific damage before
"URS" can begin any evalution on what is cause of the original
problem. Now I purchased an insurance policy with USPS but
would have to wait for USPS to settle the claim before "URS"
can begin this repair.

Sept. 15, 2011 USPS returns unit to "URS" and the waiting
begins for claim settlement in order for "URS" to begin.

Sept. 22, 2011 I decide to pay cost of repair and wait for
reimbursement from USPS. I hope to get that money back.

Sept. 23, 2011 Next day repair status is: HDMI board needs
to be replaced, board arrives on Sept. 29, 2011.

My question is: Considering that the cost for shipping this unit from Puerto
Rico to New York ($131.00) + repair ($69.00)= $200 to get this warranty
executed... Will it ever be as good as new? What caused this? and How can I
avoid this from happening again?
Any suggestions would be appreciated. First time posting on site.
