Thanks JD. Good info. I think this makes my mind up for me to go with a 2112ci. I've got the buy-in from the CEO (wife) so I might as well pull the trigger now before we spend the money on something else.

JD, I'm holding out for the 2112ci to be on a deeply discounted clearance. So you are saying that the public announcement for the ci models won't be until mid to late May?? I thought they would all be announced at the same time. Based on this, should I now expect that to not happen until after the 2113ci is actually released? That's going to kill me!!!

As was reported by Kal, earlier in the thread, the D&M new product showcase is scheduled for May 29, so a public release is likely scheduled around that same timeframe. Information provided to the reseller that posted prematurely (Big Georges) was for product availability of the lower models in April with the CI series likely to follow in May/June (as was also the case last year).

BeechTom,

How low were you hoping them to go once the 2113's hit the street?

Thanks JD, I guess when I saw earlier something about the end of this month, I thought it was for all models. Guess I'll have to wait, something I'm not too good at!

Since they were just under $400 when first introduced (later increased by $50), I'm shooting for a mid-$300 price. May or may not get that low.

That was my post about a local dealer meeting on the new models. Personally I expect some information before May 29 as that seems a bit late in the season compared to Onkyo's April announcements.

Yeah I'd love to see them that low too. If I could get under $400 that would be awesome. They're going to have to make that move tomorrow though as I'm ordering mine from EE tomorrow so I have it and some other goodies to keep me busy during the boring parts of the draft next weekend. Good luck, I hope that you're able to wait it out and get that screaming deal.

it basically boils down to being able to handle multiple sources and independent hdmi outs...

for example, a 4x2 matrix switch would allow you to any of the 4 sources go to either of the two outputs independently...

rather than today's avr, where the two outputs are the "same"... and locked to whatever the "lowest common denominator" of the sinks are...

I could not wait any longer. Got a brand new (not open box) 2112ci from EE for 449.99 including shipping to Colorado. I'm sure they will go on bigger discount once the xx13's hit the street but I bought the 2112 and I'm not going to look at prices on the 2013's.

This will be my first AVR. This will power my 5.1 living room. I will check in here are report how the setup/install goes and how she sounds once I run auto setup.

The new models, seem to have adopted the same "straight line, rectangular shape", common to Pioneer and Yamaha AVR's--A victory for Inkel clone manufacturing?

Those pics r making it tough. I adjusted position of my surround sound speakers and really want a new receiver to optimize everything. I was going to wait for a 2313 but the 2312 keeps calling my name for $600. Someone sway me one way or the other.

I don't think Yamaha's lower end receivers are made by Inkel. Pioneer/Marantz/Denon definitely are.

I noticed the product descriptions for the new models mention AirPlay only in the context of music. Does anyone know if I can use the Denon AirPlay function to mirror video/photos to a connected screen?

Thanks so much for a great forum and all the great advice (even that which has yet to be given; and I imagine there will be some...)

Doubtful. Apple hasn't licensed video support for AirPlay to any non-Apple device yet AFAIK.

True all the 'support' now are hacks, BridgeCo (the company used by most av brands) only does audio. My guess is apple is holding back because we have not seen the complete rollout of their airplay concept yet. Its already nice but expect changes in iOS6. Personally i think some of the changes are related to not only sending audio and video but also code over the wire to the playing node. This will allow them to beam applications to something like a appletv3 and make use of its cpu/gpu (in combi with sending nodes).

Daniel.

Currently only phones/tablets running iOS are supporting airplay streaming video. The release of mountain lion in the summer will add this Airplay streaming to MacOS X based computers. This brings a point of contention, whether a Denon AVR is a practical network bridge for airplay video streaming in the first place? After all you can do the same with a tiny $99 appleTV3 hooked to a Denon AVR via a HDMI.

I agree that the atv makes it easy, but full airplay support on the denon would be ideal because, conceivably, I could just throw photos and video to the screen regardless of the input selected. Plus, I wouldn't need to spend 100 bucks and use another hdmi port. Not huge issues for sure, but I'm considering upgrading my 789 and that would make the decision easier.

While licensing Airplay against music playback to Denon is non confrontational for the Apple juggernaut, have a feeling that they are not about to let any third party scalp their appletv3 sales.

No doubt. But an avr would be the perfect place for full airplay support IMO (I don't buy iTunes movies, etc.).
