Denon just announced the 1913 and lower models last week which are now available. As the 2113CI and 2313CI aren't being released until May and June respectively ,it'll likely be at least another two weeks before an official release, although not likely to be more than is already known as listed in this post.

You of course notice that Big George's hasn't posted anything about the new Denon's since their original screw up.

from areadvd.de, Germany, translated with google:

http://translate.google.de/translate...ort-von-denon/

the news says, the 2313 and 3313 will show next week, also both will have multEQ XT, sadly no XT32.

In addition Denon presents a new transport BDP!

Looking at that link I see no mention of the 3313. The link discusses the 2113 and the 2313.

I wonder how these hardware manufacturers are QC'ing 4k upscaling. FWIW this is not a feature I would add to my 'must have' list just yet.

if i had to "guess", they are implementing it straight from the cookbook... limiting it to just scaling/deinterlacing (emasculating all the rest of the chip) is likely pretty straightforward... as far as qc goes, probably did some type of rudimentary testing, and let it fly...

fwiw, it's not on my list of "must have" either, and likely never will be... putting aside the (lack of) usefulness of 4k for virtually all home users (heck, most don't sit close enough to resolve 1080p, let alone require "more" resolution), any 4k display that comes out will already include it's own video processing (just like every fixed pixel display does today)...

just another marketing bullet point that will get humped relentlessly as being an "important feature" that has no usefulness for virtually anybody... we've seen this story before...

Looks like they've already removed the post but I managed to view it from Google cache. I found some more info on the new Blu ray player on a different site. I started a thread in the Blu ray section

They probably don't for all but a few protoypes. They probably assume the chip manufacturers do their own QC.

You don't have to actually have a display to check (although they do exist). You just need to send some sample input and read some sample output and make sure the RGB's are what they're supposed to be.

Most 4k will be at the display for a long time and upscaling should be done there in my opinion no need to create more bits/bandwidth before that point. And even if you get 1 4k source going direct would solve that.

Maybe not a fair compare but with all these features going off and on these new models i have a good feeling about my old 2007 designed avp with the new 3d upgrade seems it will be ok, wonder what the 4520 will bring.

Pity if xt32 doesn't come down the line as much as i hoped i would advice that for most people for sure. Also the use and control of how direct and pure-direct is done is very useful imho.

Daniel.

I hope this isn't a typo on Denon's website. For those of us with less-than-deep cabinets, this is kind of a big deal. In my case, 15" is about the max depth of a receiver my cabinet will hold. Even then, it's kinda tight as there's a support pole directly behind the receiver. But with Onkyo, I'm severely limited. The TX-NR717 fits as it's 14-15/16" deep while the TX-NR818 won't as it's 17-1/8" deep.

if that is correct, it's going to actually be a bigger selling point for many than a lot of the other fluff that is being added on... there's many many threads from people looking for an avr that isn't too deep...

If the former, all current Denon 7.1 AVRs have the capability to use the Surr Back/Amp Assign posts as "Front B" posts (and no reason to believe that will change with the new XX13 models); however, you must go into the GUI to change the configuration as the front panel/remote buttons were removed beginning with the 3311CI. You can however, add the functionality back using a Harmony remote.

Yes smoothie, the a/b/a+b... a is the living room l+r and b is the kitchen ceiling speakers. The living room and kitchen are right next to each other, so while you might want one or the other or both, you'd never want two different sourced together.

Thanks,

Then no, not likely to be added back to the 3313CI since that capability was removed from earlier models.

Wow!!! No AM is a deal breaker for me. And I understand the reason behind it what with Internet radio but what IF one doesn't have internet? Strange but does happen. What happens, heaven forbid, a disaster hits and all you have is a generator and your xx13? But besides that, I listen to AM talk radio alot.

Another thing I don't recall mentioned is the green power lite is now just a LED instead of the ring around the standby button. Minor I know but it was kinda trademark for Denon. At least IMO anyway.

Did anyone notice that full preamp outputs on the 2313? I wonder if the us version will have this as well. That actually makes the 23 series a step up from the 21 series. I think it's a great move on denon's part.

don't hold your breath, the EU model 23xx has maintained pre-outs for years even though the US version dropped them starting with the 2308ci.

Horn appears to be a Hungarian distributor so if you're not in Europe, YMMV.

I'd like to know what "enhanced zone 2" means. Any clues? Might it mean digital output to zone 2, so I wouldn't have to switch default speaker/receiver in Windows 7 every time I want to use zone 2?
