So my boss just told me he needs help designing a stereo system for his wife for a holiday. He already has plans for the speakers and I couldn't and didn't want to push the issues about how bad this system is going to sound (in ceiling Bose 2.0 EEEKKK). He simply wasn't caring/understanding.

So without getting into details he will have a 2.0 system that needs the following:
Ipod connection (Built into AVR)
Radio (Am/FM) (Built into AVR)
Blueray player (HDMI to AVR)
Cable box (HDMI to AVR)

Here is what I am thinking I need:
An AVR with 1080P HDMI output that also has a built in ipod dock/connection and a built in radio. I also need a minimum of two HMDI in-ports (for blueray and cablebox).

So what are you suggestions? I have no clue what speakers he is driving but he mentioned bose and didn't want to talk about it (I can't argue with him) so assume no crazy power requirements. Also I am looking for lets make this as cheap as possible I know a $400 denon could do this, but I need to present a cheaper option if it exists.

Did I mentioned real work has already caused me to miss happy hour tonight?

Thanks

some AVRs will need a ipod dock purchased seperately. Onkyo, Denon, Marantz is a good place to start.

You may want to look at the H/K 1600. It can be bought for this price. Get it and "The Bridge" for less than that $400 maybe. Plenty of power for those speakers.

Incorrect..
The 1600 has no rear panel Bridge connector, needs to go to 2600 or 3600..

Just my $0.02...

A Denon avr 1612 can do this for $299. It has a USB port for the ipod and four HDMI ports.

That's all he really needs.
