Wondering if there are any opinions for anyone that's tried out or shopped these two popular models? I've read the Cnet.com reviews for both, and they give the editor's choice and edge to the Denon. However, there is a significant price drop on the Pioneer right now at Amazon.com (don't know how much price talk is allowed?) They both have Apple Airplay which I want. The Denon has an extra HDMI, but right now, I'm at 4 HDMI devices and the Yamaha has one to spare. Thanks for any input!

From what I have been reading here, Denon has better sound. Newegg had the 21212 CI which has Audessey MultiXt for $399 makes it a no brainer. I was in the same boat shopping for best receiver for $400 budget, and was reading and comparing Onkyo, Yamaha, Pioneer, Denon, I ended up ordered the 2112 over the weekend with $250 off coupon from Newegg. It is out of stock but might come back.

I'll probably get the Denon, even if I can't it on sale. Better sound, and an extra HDMI that could come in handy down the road. Thanks

I have the 1912 and love it. However, if you want to be able to use Airplay in zone 2 while enjoying another source in zone 1, you will need to go with the Pioneer. No Denon model allows this, as I understand it.

I probably won't even be using Zone 2 for this receiver; it is just my upstairs HT receiver. I will be moving my old receiver downstairs and using it for a Zone 2 on a patio. Thanks for letting me know though. Looks like the 1912 is going to be the christmas present to myself, hehe.
