I've been lurking for 24 hours and haven't found this one yet. Intriguing problem but frustrating since I haven't been able to solve it.

TV: Westinghouse VR-6025Z
AVR: Denon AVR-1912
GAME: PS3

Issue: Auto Set-up complete. HDMI input from PS3 to AVR. HDMI output from AVR to TV.
While playing DD 5.1 DVD from PS3, Setting for HDMI Audio output to AMP produces full range of sound through system speakers.
Changing output to TV only delivers surround or rear channel signal. There is no dialogue but sound effects, background music, secondary conversations can be heard.

Help?

Are you using a 5.1 speaker system?

Setting the output to TV only is routing your front channels to the TV as it is supposed to do. The use of "TV only" is exactly that: using ONLY the TV, not the surround speaker system.

Audit13- Yes, I am using 5.1 with no SW. Two Infinity Beta 50s for the front, two Beta 40s for the rear and a center. Sound with the system is great, no issues there. However, when my wife was watching the DVD she didn't want the surround system on so I showed her how to change the HDMI output to TV. That was when we noticed no dialogue from the charcters in the movie.

BMaugans- My original post states that only the surround signal is playing through the TV which is background noise, sound effects, etc. Watching the movie, the actors are clearly speaking and other events are happening in the foreground such as doors opening and closing but it is not being delivered to the TV through the AVR's HDMI Monitor output. Surround channels are, front/center are not. It's like the AVR is only sourcing the surround signal to the TV and not the primary channels.

Hi kthomison, is the PS3 audio set to bitstream? If so try setting it to LPCM.
