I've attached a pair of Artison Portraits to my Pioneer Elite monitor. The sub is Velodyne and Atlantic Tech surrounds.

I'm looking for a receiver that will A) Drive these speakers properly and B) fit into my new media cabinet!

Would the VSX-50 have what it takes to make these speakers sound great?

I mostly will watch movies on these but occasionally will like to play music from itunes as well as some DVD-audio.

I like the Apple integration and the size of this AVR works for me, but am I bit concerned it doesn't have THX. The bigger Pioneer Elites won't fit properly in cabinet and the thing would be hanging out the back three inches.

Any thoughts appreciated. Below are the specs for the speakers

Driver Complement:
2. 4.5 Long Throw Kevlar Inverted Magnet Midrange/Woofers 2. 25mm VIFA Super Audio Tweeters with Phase Plug
in Pivot Mount 1. 25mm Stage Tweeter

Frequency Response: 80Hz - 40kHz ± 3dB

NominaL impedance: 6 Ohms

sensitivity: 87dB @ 2.83 Volts, 1 Meter

enclosure type: Acoustic Suspension

Why don't you try the Pioneer VSX-921 or 1021? I think they are basicly the same and have a slightly shorter cabinet. And cheaper!

Sounds good!

The VSX-921-K is on sale at Walmart now for $230 and free shipping. Had mine shipped to the store and am picking it up tonight. I couldn't find it anywhere else close to this price. Can't yet post the URL, but a search of their site will get you to it. I am eager to hook it up to my Polk towers and see crank it up.
