I currently have the HK AVR 254, i think it sounds good. Looking to upgrade to something better and be ready for 3D as well. Was thinking of HK 2600 or 2650. Is one that much better than the other? Will the 2600 do 3D through it? Or should i look for a different brand altogether? Dont want to spend a ton of money on it if i can help it. Have seen the 2600 floating around for about 350 now. the 2650 jumps up to 650 that ive seen.

thanks for any help.

Seems to get good reviews on Amazon and at least one former 254 owner liked the upgrade to the 2600. Also note the 2600 is firmware upgradable to 3D.

Of those two the 2600 would be the much better buy. The 2650 doesn't have the amps of the 2600. A better deal would be the 3600 if you can find one. It comes with the Bridge for a I-Pod/IPhone and also has pre-outs if you should want to amp later.

Even at the same price, I would take the 2600 over the 2650. The fact that it's $300 cheaper is a no-brainer.

I had a 254, now have the 2600 and love it.

it was stated above the 2650 does not have the amps of the 2600, did they start using cheaper amps on the new model, is that why it is rated so high in power with more distortion?

Not so much the amps as it was possibly power supply. Also H/K started using the same method that others are using to rate their XX50 line. Thus the difference in the power. The 1600/2600/3600 were rated with all channels driven. The 1650/2650/3650 are not. Also with the 3600 you get "The Bridge" for Ipods/Iphones in the box with it and it has better connectivity(pre-outs). The new ones don't. The 2600/3600 seem to be the better AVR's IMO. Especially that 3600.

the main difference that concerns me (other than the amp difference and the inputs difference) is that the 2650 boasts deep color support and the 2600 does not. Is that something to be concerned about in the future or is it all BS?

thx
