If you goto:

http://www.dlna.org/consumer-home/lo...product-search

Select Search Criteria:

Audio Video System
Play To Receiver
Year 2012
Onkyo Manufacturer

A bunch of new onkyo model numbers show up including:
TX-NR414 *no certification listed but referenced in the other model certs.
TX-NR515
TX-NR616
TX-NR717
TX-NR818
TX-NR1010
TX-NR3010
TX-NR5010

All of these models passed DLNA 1.5 certification around 1/25/2012. Sample attached.

Interesting....

The higher end ones better have 11.1 capability (either with 11 channel amplification on-board, or 9 channels plus 2 pre-outs). Otherwise I'm going to have to go to Denon in early 2013.

I am hoping for audyssey XT and XT32 starting in earlier models.

Still 2EQ on models up to the 616. Denon offers MultEQ on the 1612 and XT on the 1712. Onkyo really needs to get this into their lower end. I also wish they would offer silver in the US like they did in the past.

If XT32 can make it into the 818 series later in the year, I'm sold.

Throw my name in that hat as well. I really don't see it happening though. We would be lucky to see it on the 1010.
With 2EQ still on the low ends it seems Audyssey is not that important to Onkyo. My guess is you will see XT32 on just the 3 and 5 series like last year. Hopefully Denon will drop XT32 down to the 3313 since the 4313 is going to be a lot more expensive this year. I guess a 3813 would be possible as well since the gap between the 3313 and 4313 would be 2000 if the rumors about the 4313 are true. I will probably watch the 3009 and 4311 to see how low they drop.

Onkyo 515, 8 HDMI inputs and 2 outputs plus Marvell QDEO video processing. Impressive for a 5xx series receiver.

I wonder what DLNA improvements and internet streaming have been made since the x09 series?

Onkyo talks about "and full integration of cloud streaming and internet radio services"

Yeah, can't wait to see the 818 and up. Although I'd be interested to see who uses that many HDMI inputs.

Looks pretty clean back there, too.

Well, they should start to release them in April starting with the 313. The higher end ones should be released in late summer.

Does anybody know how the Insta Prevue works? I know it shows small windows in which videos of sources connected to other HDMI inputs can be seen. But I wonder if these windows are fixed or they can be configured in size and position on screen and if so to what extent? Then, what is the mechanism of switching between the windows?

How does DLNA work on current models? Easypeasy with any Android phone or lots of adjustments?
What do they mean by Cloud improvements? Google Music, iCloud, the Amazon Cloud, Dropbox etc.?

The reason for not implementing all the Audeyssey features wanted into the lower end models is simply licensing fees. Every feature has a price within the cost structure. You don't wont to exagerate one features and sacrifice others if you are limited in your budget to meet a certain pricing level dictated by the market / competition.
It's the same with other manufacturer models.

Anyone know why they took away the the 3-Stage Inverted Darlington Circuitry in the new 616 compared to the 609 having the 3-Stage Inverted Darlington Circuitry????? Does the 616 having something better or is the 609 a better AVR with this 3-Stage Inverted Darlington Circuitry ????

It could only be to cut costs, they cut the BTL amps from the 3/5009 I would only guess that high current amps are not needed for the paper weight speakers most are buying these days and with Xovers @ 80hz, the subs is doing all the heavy work, taking the load off the AVRs. Onkyos are built for the masses, not the picky diehards..

funny thing is on the onkyo website under the 616 the three stage darlington circuitry is mentioned as being in the 616 . but not listed in the specifications ... here on this website http://hometheaterreview.com/onkyo-r...the-2012-line/ also talks about it more so idk what to think ?

I don't really like what I see, the trend is not for better hardware, but more APPs..
Its good to know whats coming, makes it easier to choose a 09 at a great price for those in the market... 809 is looking alot better at 650, or the 609 at 350.

I understand that but MultEQ can't be that bad as it's in Denon receivers starting at 300 and MultEQ XT at 400. I just can't figure out why Onkyo spends so much on a 4K chip but won't put a decent room correction on their receivers below the 7 series.

My thoughts exactly. Really makes me happy I pulled the trigger on an 809 rather than wait. No design change and most likely nothing more than instaprevue at a higher price in the 818.

i can... "4k" (even though worthless to them) is probably easier to market to joe6pack... "our competitors only do... yada yada yada"... room correction is MUCH harder to sell than "wow, look, 4k!!!"....

outside of avs, i would wager that 95% of people have spent more on their display than their speakers... as long as they can hear sound coming out (preferably with really overboosted surrounds ), they are happy...

even here, look how many threads are in the speaker subforum that start with "i just spent $2k on a tv and avr and now i have 500 left over for speakers/sub..."...

edit: and sadly, it's not even real 4k, it's faux k... a true 4k display device would have to re-scale the signal anyway...

here's my take , I really don't care that much about room correction . so buying a avr based on what tier of audyssey it has , is at the bottom of my list . But out of all the brands I would not buy a avr without audyssey . so that leaves Denon & Onkyo . here are facts Denon charges you mostly for the room correction and airplay . otherwise there receiver's are as bare bones as you can get . Onkyo on the other hand will give you more power & features . Plus they will be cheaper than the competing Denon most of the time . Now back to the main subject I will wait to see a professional review before I make up my mind if I like these new receivers

Very true. I'm sure you could convince about 90% of people who walk into Best Buy that the 4k processor is a must have or will make 1080p tvs look better. I really don't get the 4k chip on $500 receivers. I can't see someone with a $25,000 projector buying a 509.

Well hopefully this clears up any misunderstanding .. I like audyssey I use the dynamic eq and dynamic volume so I cant see buying another avr that didn't have those features . What I don't care for is whether one has 2eq or multi eq or xt blah blah ... that's not the most important feature to me .
