I have to be honest and add; I was very impressed with the fairly cool cover after driving the NR1008 pretty hard. I can't speak of previous models, but mine runs very cool. Admittedly, I only go to approx 64 (sweet setting) for most movies. I've jacked it up past that a few times and felt more heat, but not only no complaints from me here, but I'd commend Onkyo on this very point.
Our ages aren't listed, but fwiw, I'm a 53 year old "ex"-audiophile, lol. This ain't my first rodeo, and I've tried to be fair in my depiction and characterization of my dealing with the company, as well as the faultiness of the unit itself. It's the stance of the company (Onkyo) that is the most aggravating. The unit, when working (for the tenth time) is awesome. And yes, I'm a lifelong CS/Sales Mgr. so my expectations are quite reasonable, and this company hasn't even come close to making a customer even feel wanted, past the initial "Sure, we'll send you a box and label ...and take care of it..."
