Sorry guys ... Android user here and no recent update to either the Denon or Marantz Remote app ... so no issues, although I use neither as I prefer the AVR-Remote app instead.

Recently stopped working

I have a Denon 2113. I have been using the Denon android app with no problems till recently. Not sure if it was an update or what, but I can not connect the app to the AVR. The AVR ip address is 192.168.11.5, which looks weird. Everything else is 192.168.3.something. But the internet set up works with this, and will not work if I change it.
The app can not fine the device anymore. Even if I manually input the IP address. My phone is on the wireless network of the same network. My tv app will not connect either anymore, so maybe a problem with my network set up.
Any suggestions appreciated.
Thanks,
Michael

the Denon must be on the same network as the rest of the devices so it can communicate with them: so the Denon IP address has to start as 192.168.3.xxx: you will have to change it to a network address that is not in use within this range: it should work as long as there is no IP conflict.

You should download a network app on your Android such as Fing, and scan the network to determine an unused IP address, and look for any conflicts or issues: then set an unused static IP address for the Denon starting 192.168.3.xxx: the rest of the settings should match what your other devices are set to: only the .xxx should be different.

please take the high road in every post

I really hope someone jumps in and re-writes this app as it is horrible the way it is now.

I just setup my denon ceol piccolo dra-n5 the other night and it sounds great, and at first I thought the app was pretty cool, but when all of the quirks started showing their face, I was quite sad.

I think I'll stick to the unit's small display as it's quite responsive, even though it only shows 3 lines at a time.

IOS 8/Deremote

I am a new X3100(very happy) owner(since last Friday) the Denon Remote works fine on my Ipad Air with IOS8 beta, but 8 breaks Deremote. Fran(quick response helpful) sent a beta of Deremote for IOS 8 but I have not been able to get it to work right, although it does open. ron

I have not owned a receiver before that is networked or controllable with an app. I have an android tablet ready for this purpose.

Are these apps able to control other devices or are they strictly for the AVR control? Will it interact with a Dish Joey to change channels and access guide/DVR functions?

Depends on whether the source device (eg. DISH) has developed an app or not. Check the Android Play Store.

Dish probably has its own app

Hello all. Quick question, purchased the DeRemote to control a 3808 using iPad. Works well with one issue....no "2 way" control of iPod Dock. It is a Denon, and the receiver does control it, I can control it with the app, but no display of what I'd playing or navigation. After reading through the FAQ I found a notice that it won't control iPod, but I assumes that was referring to "direct" over USB control.

How about the DenONOFF app?

I pretty only use the app for controlling Pandora on my AVR-X1100W and I really loved it (although I was irritated that I could not do thumbs up or down but I was willing to live with it).

About 3 weeks ago I lost the ability to change stations. I could still do volume and control zones but no stations. It is like it tries to constantly query the station list and it just gets caught in a loop.

This is, needless to say, a HUGE bummer.

You may want to check out Logitech, they have an Android/iOS based interface to use like a universal remote. It's a network to IR/BT interface:

****Update****

It starting working again! I now suspect that there was just same strange communication problem between the app on the phone and Pandora. It (Pandora) worked just fine on the unit itself but you could literally almost see the app on the iPhone/iPad "fight" with the Pandora server. Methinks that they must have gotten it resolved as it has worked for about the last week or so. I am a VERY happy camper again.

The Android one came out yesterday, haven't played with it much to see what differences there are. The documentation said it was for compatibility with the X7200.

I checked Apple's App Store and the latest version is 3.1.4 dated 12/9/2014. Pandora still does not work. I used to LOVE this app but it has been broken for quite some time now.

Where are you finding an App update that is being released today?

Pandora works for me using the iPhone 4 App & 3312 (Wired).

Any chance your AVR & iPhone aren't connected to the same network?

Hi everyone, looking for some help using the Denon remote app on an android phone with my AVR-X4000. Specifically wondering how I can use the app to play the songs on my media server PC (intel core i5 running win7 pro). Both the amp and pc are wired to the same router. I have no issues choosing music from the actual denon receiver remote but when I go into media server on the app I don't see any option to play anything from my pc.

Thanks!

My biggest problem, on those occasions when the Denon app does connect, is with Spotify, which I predominately use (with my iPhone 6).

Occasionally, the My Playlist (where all your music is stored) will not load all your playlists, it first 6 spots on the Playlist just continuously cycle and you cant even select any of them.

Makes Spotify completely unusable, and rebooting the iPhone does not fix it. The only thing that does is deleting the Denon app and reinstalling it, major PITA.

Any solution to this?

This app really is completely worthless. I've been through two different updates now and Pandora is unusable. It does the same thing as others have mentioned with your station lists cycling through and you are unable to choose one or change the station.

If I would have known this I would not have bought my Denon receiver and am currently thinking about getting a different brand. Denon has absolutely no excuse for letting this drag on for this long. Unacceptable.

New Marantz/Denon app needs testers!

Hi All,

I'm just poking around to see if there is any interest before I bother releasing it.

The forum won't let me link to it, but I've started a thread in the "remote control" board.

I only have the one receiver that I own, the Marantz NR-1605, but I think it should work for the whole family of Marantz and Denon receivers. This is where some tester people would come in handy!
