Early reports are a bit confusing...did Pioneer effectively scrap the value leading 1121/1120 of yesteryear in favor for effectively a re-branded 1021?

Wasn't the 1121 announced months after the lower end models were announced first? I wouldn't worry yet.

Because on paper at least, it is. I'd say much worse, but it's also much cheaper.

Maybe Pioneer is shuffling it's linup. Wasn't the 1019 a little lacking compared to the 1018? And then the 1020 appeared. Doesn't the 1022 kind of fall between the 921 and 1021? Maybe they'll be a 1222? I also think we need to wait and see what winds up happenning in the end. But I'm sure they're looking for ways to increase profits.

Anyway, I'm pretty happy with my SC-27 and VSX-23. For now anyway.

My guess is the 1122 is then new 1021. Hopefully there will be something better released later. The new Elite VSX 42 and 60 don't look all that great either but I didn't really look at them very closely. Again, maybe more on the horizon.

Hasen't this been discussed somewhere else already?

Hey guys,

I just got a VSX 1122, and I am having some problems with it. First, when I connect my Mac Mini through to the TV, the desktop does not fill the entire screen, the image is scaled down a bit (black bars on all sides). I tried the overscan settings in OS X, but then the desktop is too large, parts of the desktop are outside the screen. Any idea on how to solve this?!

Also, I cannot connect the iPad app (iControlAV2012) to the receiver, I always get a B51773 (or something like that) error?! I can see the receiver in the app, I can even airplay to it. I see that the last update to iControlAV2012 was from last June. Maybe they'll upgrade it?! Or is pioneer bad at updating?

any info welcome

thanks

Hi All,
I purchased a VSX-1122 to replace my VSX-1018. The build quality is really cheap on this thing. It obvious that they cheaped out on the power supply. Notice the output rating is 90W X 2 not X7 This means It cant drive all outputs to full
power simultaneously. The AVnavigator2012 software is crap. For some reason the application installed on my laptop in chinese. ( not English) Pioneer support verified the install problem but cant fix it. They claim It only runs in IE ( no firefox or chrome). I never got it to run. Its a cheap receiver with crappy application software written in china You get what you pay for. My older VSX-1018 is a far superior product in terms of build quality and power output. I have had it for 3 days and cant get AV navigator software to run. Consider this.... This unit does not have a web server on board. This means you will need to use the un supported
av navigator ( or the apple ap) for a long as you own it. If it had a web server (like the newer Yamaha units), you just browse to the IP address and make your changes. No need to run an application on your PC. Pioneer really dropped the ball. I am extremely disappointed with every aspect of this purchase and cant wait to get it out of my house.

I ran into this problem with my VSX-60 that I got last night. When you put the disc in your computer, close whatever pops up from the autorun. Then, open the disc and run the program straight from the disc. That will fix the Chinese language problem.

I have a questions for 1122 owners. This receiver has Zone B and Zone 2 capabilities. Can the system work when Zone B and Zone 2 are both working at the same time?

I have a 5.1 set up in my TV room, 2 more speakers in the kitchen which at times I would like them to play the TV sound/music so a 7.1 configuration or stereo would be fine.

I also have 2 speakers on the deck which I would like to control from a separate output (media library/pandora/internet radio)

I have read the manual and it does not show a configuration when both Zone B and Zone 2 are on. Would appreciate any feedback from an actual owner of this receiver.

Suggestions for another receiver that can do this would also be appreciated.

Thanks!

I got one of these receivers yesterday for $375. Well the price was $450 but I had a $75.00 gift card. Overall I am really satisfied but I don't use the Zone features. The iPad app works fine also. I did not have any issue with the software either. All I needed to do is make IE the default while I did the install and it came out in English.

Where did you get it for $450?

I need a confirmation from owners,

I currently have Pioneer 1022. It has the capability of Zone A and Zone B.

5.1 speakers are connected to Zone A, and 2 more are connected to Zone B. When Zone A and Zone B are turned on, then all speakers play the same source (so this is a 7.1 configuration that I refer to).

I would like the ability to have Zone 2 that will play a a different signal from the Zone A/B signal.

I am hoping that 1122 can allow me to have Zone 1 in a 5.1 configuration, occasionally turn on Zone B for a 7.1 configuration, and occasionally turn on Zone 2 with a different signal nfrom what is played in Zone 1 in the 7.1 configuration. Does 1122 support this type of configuration?

I picked one up at best buy open box for $399, i have 1 small problem randonly during the day the screen will go black for a second or two, but the audio stays on continuesly and nothing changes on the receiver. On top of this it only happens with my comcast Motorola HD DVR box, the 360 and HTPC (all connected by hdmi) does not have this issue. Does this sound like a hdmi handshake issue between the DVR box? i will change the Hdmi inputs and see if it occurs on a different device as well. Other then that is sounds alot clearer then my Onkyo 609 peice of **** (hdmi board issues) The Ipad app is Really Nice they did a great job with the functionality and looks of the app. As for video quality no extra noise or discoloration to my connected 65gt50.

djshema, i have the same setup and was wondering if you found the answer. I have a 5.1 setup with the 2 ceiling speakers in the kitchen along with other speakers connected to the zone 2. Can you turn on the kitchen speakers?

I bought the Pioneer VSX-1022-k from Best Buy for $340, with a 2 year extended warranty. They matched the price from newegg.com. I only had it for less than 8 hours, and I returned it. The UI is really lacking. I had a difficult time trying to go in to the set up menu. For some reason or another I had to switch the AVR to DVD mode in order to access the menu / set up. The phone app was a PIA to set up, it didn't recognize my receiver. After 1 hours of messing around, the app starter working. If I played Pandora, only the front left / right speaker would sound. I had to change to stereo to be able to play the other speakers. The subwoofer was never used.

After the 8 hours of ownership, I went back to Best Buy and returned it. Needless to say, one of the Best Buy employee was pretty upset because they price matched it. After making a complaint about how rude he was I ended up getting a $25 dollar gift card rolleyes.gif

My question is: is the 1122 UI and set up option better than the 1022 or are they the same? I am trying to replace my current AVR Onkyo HT-R960 with a receiver that my family and I can control with our smart phone and tablet to watch movies or hear music.

Okay, so I've got one more question. Is the set up UI of the 1122 the same as 1022? I can get the 1122 for $450 at Best Buy because they'll price match, but I wasn't very happy with the 1022. Any input will be appreciated.
