For sound quality, should go back to 2009, with the SR 8002. Best receiver Marantz have ever made in years, with a toroidal power core. No receiver from this brand has beated it ever since.

I do not think that there´ll be any SR8007. At least this year. They´re looking into mass production, together with Denon, and top quality does not fit there, as costs must be reduced...

I´ve been thinking about buying a SR7007 (pitty with no Audyssey XT32), as it has better quality connections compared to SR7005 and then maybe adding a 2ch Rotel toroidal power (RB1070) to its front channels...

D&M announced a couple of months ago that they would be releasing 70 new products over the next 6 months .... I'd say it's a sure bet that the AV8007 as well as other new reference models are yet to come. As was posted in a previous post, the AV7007 this summer and the AV8007 in the fall.

No offense but there was no news or real info there - just corporate drum beating. Why would the consumer care?

Also it's 2012, assuming a company had any feel for the consumer at all I'd thing a stiff empty press release would be understood to be useless. You want word of mouth - release outstanding, groundbreaking products and consumers themselves will do the marketing for you.

I could be totally wrong but I wasn't taking any chances and jumped on the 4311 before they were gone.

Hi,

I'm trying to figure out what is the key differences between the current SR6006 verses the new soon to be released SR6007?

The only difference I could find between 6006 vs 6007 was 6007 has 4K video passthrough/upscaling and has menu/volume overlay with all 3D content. 6006 manual says it can overlay menu/volume in some 3D content but it was not working in my set up. Based on this conclusion, I decided to buy the Marantz 6006 at the current sale price.

AFAIK, both models have the same capability in that they can do the GUI/volume overlay on 3D video with the caveat that it may not work on all 3D video, so no difference in that respect.

Better GUI and easier setup on the 6007? Sale prices are too good on the 6006. Couldn't resist! Get it while it is hot!

one other new feature for 2013 models (denon 3313 and marantz 6007) is 3 HDMI outputs with independent output to two zones. Current ones have two HDMI outputs but both output the same signal. In summary new features for Marantz 6007 are

1. simultaneous output of two independent sources via HDMI out
2. better GUI and easier set up
3. 4K video passthrough and may be better 3D overlay support to show volume and other info on the screen with 3D content

Unless you need these features the sale prices of Marantz 6006 (around $800) and Denon 3312 (around $600) seem too good to pass!

I have to agree with the first part. I had the 7002 for a while (along with a BD 8002 and DV7600) and it was a fantastic receiver at the time. I should have kept it. It's a shame to see what's happened to Marantz lately. Hopefully DM will give it the attention it deserves. But I'm not holding my breath as I have no idea where Marantz will fit in at DM from here on out.

Typically, the manufacturer gives the dealers time to sell the existing product, but not always...

yes, despite it´s available, there´s no serious review until now. Just specs releases and a youtube video...

I´m interested in the SR 7007 and see if some of the SR 7005 limitations are over, specially the DSD bitstream sound decoding limitation. As if you use a Marantz Blu Ray player like the UD5005 and it offers full SACD over HDMI support...it will output pure DSD bitstream BUT the SR-7005 cannot decode it...

When you put the player in source direct mode and use the SR 7005´s up-conversion to 1080p via HDMI, the audio output from the UD5005 is limited up to 48 kHz. So, DTS 96/24 and DVD-As at 96 kHz are output at 48kHz when 5005 is in source direct. Weird things...

[recopy from the AV7005 thread] Has the AV7005 successor been mentioned in this thread by name: the AV8801?

"The AV8801 and MM8007 have a copper casing, HDAM modules, 32bit/192Khz D/A Converters and 11.2 channel processing"

Haven't heard about any 8801, AFAIK the AV7005 will be replaced by the AV7007.

As we were wondering why only Audyssey XT and not XT32. They state that the SR7007 unit has the Audyssey MultEQXT and it´s upgradeable to Pro by Installer.

For those who are more experienced with Audyssey. How much of improvement would we have with the Audyssey MultEq xt Pro?

Haven´t heard any official statement or even rumour about AV7005 successor until I saw your post...

From this link it appears that the replacement for the AV7005 will be the AV7701. If you scroll down through the link it will show a picture of the AV7701 and the MM7055 the matching 5CH amp. It doesn't say in the short description that the AV7701 will have XT32.

You could look on the Audyssey site or the Audyssey thread for a detailed explanantion of the differences that Pro will offer. Personally I have no experience with Pro and most likely I will pass on using it as I'm quite happy with "basic" XT32 smile.gif.

The pictures in both of the articles seem to be of the same hardware -- a pre/pro sitting on top of a multichannel amp. The signs on top of the pre/pro are in the same places, and the pictures seem to have been taken from similar viewpoints. Unfortunately, neither picture is high enough resolution to be able to read the model numbers. Either one or both of the reporters made typos or (as is sometimes the case) European model numbers will be different from US model numbers.

Not surprisingly, the Marantz AV8801 sounds like a pre pro'd, mildly Marantz'd version of the Denon 4520CI:

Is it me or is the SR5007 a bang-for-the-buck winner given its MultEQ XT and (now) 7.1 channel pre-outs??

If you're not interested in zone 2 HDMI, it stacks up very well against Denon's 3313.
