Hey all,

Who has added a DAC to their system as of recent? What would you recommend?

I am seriously looking at the teac UD-H01 USB DAC because of its value and added components. Have you heard it?

The teac uses the burr brown 1795 chip which is strikingly similar to the burr brown 1792 used Arcam FMJ D33 SuperDAC. I'd love to have the arcam but 4k for a DAC is a little out of my budget...

And then theres the Audiolab M-DAC DAC which uses the ESS Sabre32 9018 chip I am tempted by this as well

What are your thoughts or recommendations?

I had a chance to play with the PEachtree Grand Pre and the Grand Integrated. Both have the same DAC, they really did something right with both pieces.

Life is enjoyable with good quality

I am also looking for a new DAC, though in a higher price range. I currently have a Electrocompaniet ECD-1, which is still very good, but it has some limitations (no 192kHz input)

My current favourites are the Naim DAC and the AMR DP-777.

However, I am waiting for the Mark Levinson 560 DAC to come out at the end of the year. This will come with DSD input over HDMI, which could make it the definitive (stereo) digital souce, with the possibility to connect a SACD player digitally.

Maybe other manufacturers will follow with DSD input too.
