Can anyone confirm if you can play the internal Sirius/Pandora piece through zone 2?

Every past Onkyo with network sources plays those sources through the other Zones. The 2012 protocol spec also shows network playback is possible over zone 3 and 3 on the 616, so yes, it should work.

More than likely Vanns just got notification they are ready to ship from the warehouse. I would imagine Amazon will very soon follow suit.

I just called Vanns and they said that they have them in their own warehouses, he would not tell me how many were available.

He did say that if it was ordered today with 2nd day air shipping it would arrive on Wednesday May 30th.

If anyone wants to throw a bone to a helpful sales associate over there, you can caul Paul at x-2124.

Actually Vann's and J&R were in stock and shipping the 616's for a about week before Amazon got on the ball. I cancelled the Amazon order after a week and ordered the 616 from Vann's and that arrived before Amazon ended the preorders.

My Vann's preorder for the 818 still shows as pending, waiting for inventory.

EDIT:

Correction, it is prepping for shipment! Finally!

If you can hold out another couple of months it seems (to me) likely that the 818 will be available for $800-$850.

It does look very very good for the money but I think I'm going to hold off for a month or two just to see what problems early adopters have.

And here I am with the 801! I'm excited about it coming out too, but I also plan to wait a few months. I don't even have HDMI on my 801 receiver.

Joerod

Have you tested the Onkyo 1009?

I have one on loan and have to say i am realy impressed with it so far. It sounds better than my old 905. Tomorrow i would pick a Pioneer LX85(SC57) and compared them

Whatever you do, don't get the Pioneer, it does not EQ the sub channel in anyway whatsoever.

I had some reward points from previous purchases. I paid 867 plus if the price goes down in the next 60 days I get reimburse for the difference.

Me too, but with being a Prime member, it might be faster, like the 30th. Who knows with the holiday.

I agree.

I'm sitting on my $1,000 I had budgeted (and saved) for my next receiver and the 818 is a couple of hundred dollars over that. I can wait until it drops enough or someone returns an 809 to a vendor like Vanns or Newegg and it can be had for a very reasonable amount or another receiver with similar features and quality catches my eye and has good feedback from people here.

I had hoped to buy within the next couple of weeks but will have more patience in order to get what I want and that is born of input from folks here.

I hate consumer electronics. Just got the 609 a month ago. First real AVR ever and I was so jacked about it. Even now I just walk by it and nod satisfactorily to myself and I try to think of more reasons to turn it on.
But now, reading this thread, I'm getting jealous and I want that frackin' 818!!
I wish I had the wallet for my tastes...

this is great deal on a TX-NX1009 , it's refurbished these are the ONLY refurbished Onkyo's that carry a Onkyo warranty as they are the Only Onkyo Dealer Authorized reseller of Onkyo Refurbished units themselves (you can check the Onkyo USA site as they are listed as a Authorized seller ) , they also sell a extended warranty as well I have heard great things about them . They also are a reseller of Denon & they are Denon authorized dealer as well

i have a TX-NR1009 that I love . great unit , I got one from J&R open box for $1050.oo it was never even opened still had all the labels , original plastic cover still taped in place .

Nothing wrong with refurbished. Been using a lot of refurbed gear for years

No subwoofer I've heard has been able to produce the bass I've experienced in the Corps!

Must..stop...buying...every bluray release...

I have to bite - please share your wisdom why buying a refurb with a factory authorized warranty is less than intelligent. Personally I have bought a few including an Onkyo 4 years ago and not a problem to be had. I imagine you have some statistic to share - not - with us tat validates yet another one of your baseless blanket statements - your forum name does not suit tHe comments you make throughout this form.

I've heard of quite a few people doing this and also buying used...it's just not something I'm comfortable with, factory warranty or not. I dunno why, the word refurb just makes me nervous...
