In specific, Im looking at the VSX-60 vs the VSX-1122k. Looking through, the only difference I see on the Elite is one extra component input and a 2yr warranty.

The VSX series Elites are not really Elites. They take one of the Pioneers and add a connection and slap an Elite sticker on it to charge more money. If the extra warranty makes you feel better then go for it but don't expect to get a better receiver. The Elite line really starts at the SC series.
I just looked at the 1122 on Pioneers website and it looks like it lost preamp outputs. I would try to find an 1121 because the 1122 seems to be a step backwards.

1121 also has about 8 lbs on the 1122, so a step back indeed.

Good catch, I didn't even check the weight. What an epic fail for Pioneer this year!

It's nice that the regular Pioneers are quite a bit cheaper (1122-$599, 1022-$449) than last years models but it does look like they took a little step backwards.

I always recommend the regular Pioneers or the SC series, almost never the VSX Elites. Having said that, I own an Elite VSX-23. But I bought it used for a very good price ($278 shipped) and it matches my BDP-23 and DV-48. My good as new Elite Sc-27 was purchased used a few months ago for $600. I've always though Elites were very nice receivers but way over-priced new. Even the SC series. $599 for the 1122 is a decent price but $399 for the 1121 from Newegg a couple of weeks ago was a very good deal. Just my opinon.
