Hello,

This is my first time posting here so I hope you guys would be able to help me make a fine choice.

So the story is that my father is offering to purchase me a new receiver in return for me giving him my current one.

The budget is around $350.

The receiver that I currently have is the Pioneer VSX-520-K

The speakers that I'm running on it are.
Polk Monitor 70 Series II x 2
Polk CS2 Series II
Polk Monitor 40 Series II x2
Polk PSW505(LFE)

The speakers are evenly divided for use between games, movies and music. All of which I tend to play very loud.

Right now an Xbox 360(HDMI), cable box(HDMI), component splitter, my laptop(Optical) and various other HDMI connections are going into the Receiver.

I'm not in any need of Apple connections but besides that I would like to get a new receiver that will last a while technology wise.

I've been looking at the new Pioneer receivers but the newest ones don't seem to be much better quality wise than ones from previous years so I'm a bit lost.

I'd also prefer a quality sounding and strong receiver to one with lots of gimmicky features like dlna and wireless.

Would you guys be able to offer up any suggestions for a new receiver?

Thank you,
Leo.

With that budget you should look at close-out deals on last year's models. I've listed some options below (Amazon prices).

Yamaha RX-671 $367-just a tad over your budget
Denon 1612-$251
Denon 1712-$306
Pioneer VSX-921-$322
Pioneer VSX-821-$179 (Newegg)
