Im finally setting up the Mancave and the finishing touches are slowly coming into play.

Im going to purchase my TV tonight(Panny 55VT50) and have my speaker system set (Polk Audio system)

Now i have been purchasing Onkyo receivers for 10 years and i trusted it for awhile.... now i see they are providing some issues with the new line while the old one's had issues too....

but now im growing desperate and i want to get a receiver in the next 2 days... which one would be the best one to get... Onkyo 609 or the Onkyo 616....

my budget is $500 and im all about ease and good tech...

which one should i get? and if neither, which one do you suggest? im desperate and would love your opinion!

Go for the 709 or 370 instead. You can find them for around $500 and they offer a alot more than the 6xx line.

The 609 can be had from amazon for about $383. I just bought one and am awaiting delivery. I saw too many issues with the 616 that I didn't want to deal with.

The NR609 has its share of issues. Not like that receiver is spotless.

Should have just gone for a different brand IMO. Onkyo in general has too many issues.

"Vintage" is good for wine, not for A/V equipment.

I'd probably get a Denon AVR 2112 in the low $400 range.

What devices will you be connecting?

+1 for the Denon 2112 as it has a higher Audessey version then both the Onkyos. Pretty good price too.
