Request opinions on the following setup I have. Thanks in advance for replies.

TV - LG LM 55 inch 7600
Cable Box - Motorola for Verizon Fios service
A/V Receiver - Pioneer VSX 821 K
Blue Ray - LG BP 220

The cable box is connected to the A/V receiver by HDMI into video 1 in

The Blue Ray is connected to the A/V receiver by HDMI into DVD in

The A/V receiver is connected to the TV from HDMI out to TV HDMI in 1 (ARC)

Optical digital audio from A/V receiver in to TV optical digital audio out

Watching the Fios cable is no problem. When you want to watch Vudu or Netflix on the TV I have to change the A/V input to CD-R to see a picture. Before using the optical digital connection I also was getting no sound when using Netflix or Vudu.

Everything seems to work but this doesn't seem right to me. Why can't I watch Netflix or Vudu on A/V receiver video 1 setting ?

I noticed on my VSX-821 receiver that only BD/cable box and BD HDMI inputs work correctly for HDMI audio. I use my Macbook Pro for all video sources and route audio through the HDMI output of the laptop. If you got a roku box you could connect it to one of the HDMI inputs on the receiver and use that instead of your television for netflix, etc... You can re-assign inputs, I have never done this but maybe connect the cable box directly to television and use the receiver for audio only, except for the Blu-ray player.
