The network chip is on the same board as the HDMI. I bet ground loop issues is frying that board.

Oh I see now, silly me. I would say could be your room/sub location or it could be the AVR or it could be the mic. Hard to tell. Some people have a hard time getting the Audussey to work (even if it measures right). It's just a tool sometimes even the best tools can't fix every problem.

Try moving the sub maybe it's in a bad spot.

It's a measure of acoustical range, not actual feet and inches. There are all sorts of variables that effect the acoustical "distance".

Mine got same Audyssey setting problem. I just figured out the mic that came with this unit is defective. I just tried old mic which came with 609 model and works fine through XT32 full set up. Still replacement is on the way.

Mine was definitely not the Audyssey microphone. I tried the Audyssey mic that came with my TX-SR508, and my friend's Audyssey mic that came with his Marantz 6008. My receiver behaved the same way. Once I got the new receiver, everything has been working great!

I hope that Onkyo is covering the HDMi board issue. I'm still debating on whether or not I should buy their extended warranty.

I went to the Onkyo page, and put in my serial number, and selected 2 options, the network greyed out + loss of audio on all channels, and it says I'm eligible. I hope that is a good sign. I hope to never have the problem, but it looks like audio loss is covered. It might depend on the combination of problems selected.

output signal strength - possible issue??

I am trying to troubleshoot an issue I am having with my setup. I have the 818 receiver connected to an Epson 3020 projector. Everything works great until I plug my Mac into the 818 and start watching Youtube videos. After about 20 -25 minutes the projector shuts off from overheating. Epson says to check the signal coming out to make sure it isn't sending too much power to the projector. I have tried the PC and Game 2 channels and it happens on both. Never have a problem watching cable tv or movies/games from playstation. Any ideas? I am also going to post in the projector section. thanks

so if you unplug the mac it all works fine and dandy? did you try the play station again?

Hdmi reset

I have had my 818 returned due to the HDMI board issue and it was replaced. Now I am having the same issue. Losing volume and now the ARC will not work.

Does anyone remember the remote control sequence to reset the receiver?

To reset the AV receiver to its factory defaults, turn it on and, while holding down CBL/SAT, press ON/STANDBY. “Clear” will appear on the AV receiver’s display and the AV receiver will enter standby mode.

This is done on the receiver not the remote.

yes, I am using the mini display port to HDMI. In a different thread someone thought that the Mac was sending out a raw signal and the projector was having to work harder to decode the signal. I would think that if this was the case then the 818 would not pass the signal straight through without some level of decoding. I have no idea if I am using the correct terms to describe this.

So my 818 is starting to flake on me....it will turn on and get picture but the click is not there that turns on the built in amps.

Meaning no speakers show on the display = no sound output until I turn off and then back on.

I am thinking of buying a refurb 929 to hold me off until the Denon 13.2's mature.

Go to their site and see if you are covered for a repair:

Onkyo acknowledges failed units and extending warrranties until 2018


Supposedly, they are turning the repairs around pretty quickly under this program as well.
