I use Direct for all Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Blurays.

Sometimes our circuits get shorted by external interference,
Signals get crossed and the balance distorted by internal incoherence.

Having a 7.1 system utilizing WIDE setup mode, I use either NEO:X or Audyssey DSX.

Wake up to music.
Hi Guys. Does anyone know how to automatically turn this unit on to a certain digital audio input? Maybe an android wake on Lan app that has an alarm / automatic on time?
What I'm trying to do is wake up to bbc radio. I use the iPlayer radio app and tune in on android that have alarm features, but I can't figure out how to then turn on the receiver automatically.

I prefer the ProLogic IIz with my Front High speakers. I find that this gives me a very balanced and enveloping experience in all types of situations so I actually never change it!

+1
This was my preferred listening choice as well, DVD's, gaming, sports, etc...
I got my first BluRay player in the Xbox One, so I have not watched many BR discs, yet...but I have the One set to 5.1 Uncompressed, and the Onkyo's listening mode to multichannel.

I have side and rear speakers in addition to front LCR, so I use IIx. I have experimented with all the Neo and THX stuff but IIx sounds best with 5.1 material. For music, I may use All Channel Stereo or one of the IIx music modes, depending on how the room is being used.

Hi All,

This happens every now and then (maybe every 5 months or so), and most recently happened tonight. I thought I would run it by you guys.

I have TX-NR818 connected to a Panasonic projector, an HTPC, and a Samsung blue ray player. All connections are HDMI. I am running a 7.2 speaker configuration.

Every now and then when I power up the 818, I will either get no video, or very fuzzy video. The fuzziness starts with the ONKYO logo start-up screen. If I remember correctly, the Onkyo image is a little red (I got the no video problem tonight).

To fix, I do some sequence of the following:
1. Power down the 818 and remove power plug. Re-insert power plug and restart.
2. Disconnect and re-connect the hdmi cables from the sources
3. Disconnect and re-connect the hdmi cable to the projector.
4. Switch inputs on the projector.

I cannot figure out which combination works, but all of a sudden, BAM, I get the most beautiful image known to man.

Does anyone else have this happening. If so, what is the true sequence to fix?

Thanks,

Brady

Might have to send it in for a repair, it could be the dreaded HDMI issue popping up on you.

I was thinking symptom of the HDMI problem was no sound. This receiver is two years old has had this problem since new.

Since I can eventually fix it, I never send it in. I was kind of wondering what the proper sequence is to get it working again.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I would just send it in and be done with the problem, instead of doing what you are doing now...pulling wires, turning things off and on...just to make it work.

After a week that would drive me up the wall.

My next upgrade is to the Denon X5200 or X7200 series.
