I have noticed that Yamaha has the RX-A3020 listed on their site. RX-A3020 - AVENTAGE - Audio & Visual - Products - Yamaha United States It would seem that they have added Airplay and eliminated the secondary remote control. Does anybody know any other differences between the 3020 and the 3010 ? Price is now $2199 vs $1999 for the 3010.

Using comparison function on the web site I see the following additions/changes:
  • Dialog lift with no presence speakers required
  • Dialog level adjustment
  • Audio delay of up to 500ms (instead of 250ms)
  • High-resolution music enhancer
  • 4K pass-through & 4K upscaling
  • HDMI zone output
  • AirPlay
  • ECO mode
I also notice the following omissions:
  • Dock port
  • Pandora, Rhapsody, SIRIUS Internet Radio and Napster
  • Front S-Video
  • SIRIUS Satellite connector
  • Second remote
  • Zone 4 optical
I suspect that the omission of the Internet music services like Pandora is just an error in the specs.

The biggest change seems to be the assignable HDMI zone output and AirPlay. I was expecting that there might be a signifcant redesign to the back panel, maybe dropping S-Video, but it's the same basic layout they've been using for the previous two model years as well.

Very timely, as my Z7 just started having it's first problem (screwing up the DirecTV picture - turning the receiver off and on 2 or 3 times solves it, but it's a hassle).

AirPlay doesn't add anything if one already has Apple TV, right?

My 3010 does this and so does the denons, onkyos, etc. it's a bad firmware by dtv themselves... Not the receivers issue.

Honestly, I would be looking at a Denon 4311, not a 3020 at this point. Can't justify the $100 increase and lack of audyssey at this price point. All of their specs aren't updated, but i believe Yamaha hasn't even bothered to add support for spotify or mog, shame.

I think the appleTV does a much better job with airplay than a receiver. Now I don't know what kind of user interface the Yamaha will have but I much prefer apple TV over streaming to my Denon. With receivers it's audio only so you don't get video or pictures like you do with Apple TV. Airplay is handy to have but I don't see it being necessary if you have AppleTV.
